Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 5

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter Five:

  • page 59 - 74
  • First sentence: Or rather, they had been Strigoi.

*spoiler alert*

What an awesome chapter! We got more Lissa-Christian conversation as Rose was still in her head and got more into Christian's past about his parents turning Strigoi, which basically made him an outcast because everyone seems to think he'll turn Strigoi at any moment too. God, I love Christian. I love how snarky he is.
Then Rose goes off to train with Dimitri, which overall was more of weight training while Dimitri himself went to read one of his western novels. That was pretty hilarious.
Not a whole lot happened after that. Rose had a conversation with Jesse, which caused Rose to think about Ms. Karp (Sonia) again and how odd she always acted. We all know why of course. I love how Sonia plays a bigger part through the series as the books continue.
Oh and another mention of the psi-hounds. Anyone reading that knows something more is up about that!

Quote:

"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Taking in the sights, of course. That chair with the tarp on it is particularly lovely this time of year. Over there, we have an old box full of the writings of the blessed and crazy St. Vladimir. And let's not forget that beautiful table with no legs in the corner."
-Lissa & Christian

Gotta love him, right? =D
