Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 8

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.
Co-hosted by Christina @ Booksane and me!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter Eight:

  • page 101 - 109
  • First sentence:
Burning with anger, I fought harder and better that day than I ever had in any of my classes with the novices.

*spoiler alert*

I don't know about you, but I laughed my ass off with this chapter. First of all Rose is pissed about the dead fox and she and Mason have a little talk about it. Wondering if Mia has it in her to do that or let any of her friends do it. I see how Rose could wonder about Mia but we all know better of course. Next Rosa and Lissa have a little disagreement about Jesse and how Rose wants to "slip away" with him. Then when they're in class, Ralf bothers Rose and Lissa about the fox thing and before they know it he burst into flames (it didn't hurt him though) *snickers* Turns out it was Christian who did it. Gotta love that guy. Seriously. And after that Rose and Lissa have another disagreement about Christian. Rose thinks Lissa should stay away from him, but Lissa doesn't want that. I must admit I'm a little annoyed by Rose at this point. I get she wants to protect Lissa but there are boundaries, okay... It's a good thing Lissa isn't going to listen to her. =D
But, boo! No Dimitri this time... :(

Quote:

For several seconds, the entire classroom froze. Then, slowly, everyone put the pieces together. Moroi magical specializations were well known, and after scanning the room, I deduced three fire users: Ralf, his friend Jacob, and—
Christian Ozera.
Since neither Jacob nor Ralf would have self Ralf on fire, it sort of made the culprit obvious. The fact that Christian was laughing hysterically sort of gave it away too.

  2. This was a great chapter - Quote intense! 2 things I loved was Rose's pacifier remark to Mia and when Rose senses Lissa being sneaky!
