Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 4

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.
Co-hosted by Christina @ Booksane and me!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter Four:

  • page 42 - 58
  • First sentence:
We didn't have the entire commons' attention this time, thank  God, but a few passing people had stopped to stare.

*spoiler alert*

Ah, such a fun chapter! The showdown with Mia was just great. Rose being all protective over Lissa and we know it won't be the only "arguement" Rose and Mia will have. Can't wait! Hee hee
We also got to take a look at Lissa's class schedule. Since I shared Rose's it only seems fair that I should share Lissa's too:

1st Period: Russian 2
2nd Period American Colonial Literature
3rd Period: Basics of Elemental Control
4th Period: Ancient Poetry
—Lunch
5th Period: Animal Behavior and Physiology
6th Period: Advanced Calculus
7th Period: Moroi Culture 4
8th Period: Slavic Art

There's more worldbuilding, the Moroi's powers get explained of how they each have an element they specialize in and how Lissa hasn't found hers yet. Of course we all know better.
Something I think I should mention also is how Rose and Lissa went to sit with Natalie and her friends for lunch. Interesting to see how Natalie is and how much she'll be changed at the end on this book. Oh and Jesse came in for the first time. Of course we all know him. ;)
Aside from all this not much happens except maybe the introduction of another very important character. When Rose walks to her practice with Dimitri, she gets sucked into Lissa again and sees her going to the chapel and her secret place only to find Christian Ozera there. I do love me some Christian. =D

Quote:

Lissa had always attended mass regularly. Not me. I had a standing arrangement with God: I'd agree to believe in him—barely—so long as he let me sleep in on Sundays.

  1. I thought this was a very good foundation laying chapter :) I don't like Jesse so much but I love Christian to pieces!
