Re-readathon: Frostbite by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 21-23

Chapter 21-23

Chapter 21:

Eventually Rose and the others manage to get out (thanks to Christian's awesome fire power) and up in the house they're being held. Everyone except Rose gets out, but then Mason returns and, well, gets killed. Shock!

Chapter 22:

Mason's death shocks Rose a lot but it gets her to go into action and kill the bastards. After that the real shock starts kicking in and she eventually falls apart in her mothers arms. 

Chapter 23:

In this chapter, Rose gets her Molnija marks for killing the strigoi and feels like in the end it wasn't at all what she had pictured with Mason being dead and all. Not a whole lot more happens except for the end with Dimitri. She talks to him and he tells her he isn't going away with Tasha because he doesn't have feelings for her that way and because he has feelings for her. Then they kiss. Pretty sweet.

Chapter 16-20

Chapter 16:

At the start of this chapter Rose and Lissa talk a bit and Lissa makes Rose go to a banquet from some other royal. At first Rose didn't really want to but Lissa got her to go anyway. Adrian showed up, which is always a plus for me. And he and Rose talked until Janine rudely disturbed her. Dang it.

Chapter 17:

After Rose gets dragged away by her mom, they have a little chat about not flirting with moroi and yadayada. I do get where her mother is coming from though. After that Rose is talking to Dimitri. I was glad to see him again because he hasn't been much in it. I must admit I kinda miss him. So eventually Rose tells him to take Tasha up on her offer. Le sigh. 

Chapter 18:

After chapter 17, Rose goes off to find Mason to tell them things can't work out between them but she can't find him. She learns that Mason, Eddie and Mia went off on their own to find the Strigoi that have been lurking around Spokane and who killed all those other royal moroi. Even when reading it the first time I wanted to kick Mason and the others for being stupid. Even Rose knows it! So Rose goes off to find Christian to make him help her get out and go after the others. And naturally Christian is going with her. Eventually Rose and Christian find the others and manages to convince them to return but right at the end they get taken anyway. And that's where shit is starting to hit the fan!

Chapter 19:

After being captured by humans they're being led somewhere and they find out the strigoi are after it all. Isaiah was a pretty interesting character. For a villain. It's the first time they, aside from Rose come face to face with strigoi so it's all pretty intense. Especially when Isaiah starts feeding off Eddie. Poor guy.

Chapter 20:

So, in chapter twenty, Adrian comes in again. Yay! This time he's in Rose's dream again. She doesn't totally understand it and right before she can tell Adrian where she is, he disappears. Of course. Because otherwise it'd be too easy, wouldn't it? SIGH!

Chapter 11-15

Chapter 11:

Big stuff is starting to happen here. Chapter eleven starts with Rose watching Tasha teach Lissa and Christian offensive magic. After that Rose was kinda rude to Tasha because she's jealous about the whole Dimitri thing. Aside all that not much major happened except at the end the news was delivered that there was another Strigoi attack.

Chapter 12:

The chapter starts pretty much with the guardians discussing the new attack. Rose finds out Mia's mom is killed. I feel bad for Mia for this. The only good thing coming from it is that at this point Mia starts changing in a better way. Next up is some sort of meeting with Moroi and guardians discussing what should happen now. While some woman thinks they should let the dhampirs fight when they are only 16, Tasha starts talking about fighting with magic and even shows them some fire power. Pretty kickass but it's not well received...

Chapter 13:

When everything turned to chaos, Rose left and has a discussion with Dimitri about Tasha. More like an argument, really. They both said some things and I don't know, it makes me kinda laugh because I know everything will turn out okay... eventually. So Rose leaves with Adrian (*fangirl squeal*) to make Dimitri jealous. Adrian invites Rose and Lissa to some sort of pool party and they bring the rest of the gang too. There they talk about going after the Strigoi, which is stupid. Even Rose sees it. Le sigh.

Chapter 14:

And then Rose walks into a fight. lol. Mason got into it too but nothing much happened there. Or in this chapter in total, I think. Aside from Adrian being in it and making me swoon.

Chapter 15:

The next morning, Rose receives a bunch of perfume from, yes, Adrian! It's one of my favorite scenes. I love how Adrian tried to get her attention by buying her stuff. It's all so easy for him. I also loved the "show down" with Adrian, Rose, Dimitri and Lissa where Adrian gets a little Spirit-crazy. Of course they don't know it's the spirit causing that but we all do. These moments make me kinda sad, thinking about it. There's not a lot happening for me after that. Maybe I just tune out when Adrian isn't there but whatever. Oh yeah, Rose and Mason start making out heavily but Rose stops it because she kept thinking about Dimitri. I feel really bad for Mason because of it but also for Rose. What a mess!

I have to say that reading five chapters a week and posting once a week is much easier for me and doesn't feel so "heavy" for the blog, so yay. =D

Chapter 6 - 10

Chapter 6

Chapter six was good. Really good. And I actually did remember this chapter pretty well because of Janine Hathaway, Rose's mother. I loved that Janine took it upon her to do a training with Rose because Dimitri just got back from driving Tasha somewhere and back. Janine and Rose have some serious issues to work through. And as Rose kept mouthing off to her mother, it wasn't too surprising that Janine hit her. Of course, not on purpose. I think she just slipped up. Still, not fun to receive a black eye from your mother. 

Chapter 7:

Chapter even pretty much start with Mia being a bitch once again. This time she was taunting Rose about the black eye her mother gave her. I think Rose should break Mia's nose again. After that Rose went to Lissa, who was getting ready for a date with Christian. They talk a little about a lot of things, Spirit, Mason...
After Lissa is gone Rose gets pulled into Lissa's head while she's making out with Christian.

Chapter 8:

Inside Lissa's head, Rose realizes that Lissa and Christian are getting it on for real and tries hard to get out of Lissa's head but it doesn't work right away so she's forced to watch a little of it. After that Rose runs into Mason (that cutiepie!) and they talk about this and that until Rose arrives at training with Dimitri. They get into some arguments until Rose gets seriously pissed and kisses Dimitri to prove a point. And Dimtiri kissed her back (squeeee!). Of course after that it's all like, no we can't do that, blah blah. SIGH!

Chapter 9:

This chapter was so very sad for Rose. She's invited to the christmas party/gathering of Tasha, where also Lissa, Christian, Mason, Dimitri and her mother are attending. Dimitri and Tasha are being cosy and talking easily. When Rose and Janine go to Rose's room to talk, Janine lets it slip that Tasha is interesting in Dimitri not only to get him as her guardian but also to have babies with. Rose was very much shocked and I really did feel bad for her.

Chapter 10:

Chapter ten is probably my favorite chapter so far. It's finally time for the ski trip and Rose is very happy about it so she doesn't have to see Dimitri a lot after what her mother told her about Tasha and him. Rose hangs out a lot with Mason, Lissa and Christian. She even decides she wants to move on from Dimitri, with Mason. So they go skiing, all four of them, Rose and Mason doing crazy stunts while Lissa and Christian take it slower. And then...
ADRIAN ENTERS THE STORY! FUCK YEAH!
We all know and remember how he enters. The first sentence he says is pretty epic: "Hey, litte dhampir."
He and Rose talk a little, Adrian flirts a lot. We also find out he's an Ivashkov, which is a huge, wealthy royal moroi family. Of course Mia has to enter suddenly and get into it with Rose, while Adrian makes cat noises. Always makes me laugh. And I love when Rose leaves that he says "I'll see you soon." because we all know what he means. :)

Chapter 1 - 5

Chapter 1:

I know there's a prologue first but it's more Rose walking us through all the important things that happened in Vampire Academy so not really that important. 

Chapter one is all about Rose going on a little trip with Dimitri to take her qualifier test which would've been taken by the famous Arthur Schoenberg (random fact: that last name sounds very Flemish or Dutch actually). Upon arrival they noticed something is wrong so Dimitri tells Rose to go sit in the car and wait. Yeah, right. She wouldn't be Rose if she'd do that. So she goes and and sees bodies, bodies, bodies everywhere. They're all killed by Strigoi. They also find out humans helped them put the magical wards done. So humans are teaming up with the Strigoi is very bad news. 

Chapter 2:

After Dimitri called some guardians to come check out the masacre they find a creepy ass writing on the wall: 

Poor, poor Badicas. So few left. One royal family nearly gone. Others to follow.

Like I said, creepy...

Not much else happened except Rose getting pissed and wishing she could take on the Strigoi's herself and then returning to the academy with Dimitri. After that she went to find Lissa and found her with Christian in the library where she tells them she was at the house where the masacre happened.


Chapter 3:

Chapter 3 starts with Rose being confused why a lot of the kids are all smiling and seem to be excited about something. She thinks it's weird that everyone is acting like that after what happened. And then of course Mason comes in and explains they're going on a ski trip where all the students can go to over the winter holiday so they'll be safe. I loved how Mason and Rose were flirting back and forth. It was all very cute. (yes, I know she's Dimitris soulmate but I still think it's adorable!)
After that Rose goes to practice and sees Dimitri holding a stake so she's all happy to be finally ready to practice with stakes. Of course Dimitri has different idea about it, asking questions about where the heart is and how she should stake the dummies (a.k.a. practice Strigoi).
When she goes to her next class, there are a couple of guardians in the class and one of them is... dum dum duuuuum... her mother.

Chapter 4:

So the reason that her mother,  and some other guardians are there is because of the masacre and she (Rose's mother) is there with the guy she's protecting but they had time to share real-life experiences with the class. Rose is pretty upset about it because she hasn't seen her mother in years. I'd be mad too if that were my mother. So I can totally understand where Rose is coming from. When it's her mothers turn to share an experience Rose is definitely pissed off and raises her hand to ask questions which make her be send out of class. A little bit later her mother comes out and talks to Rose. To say that didn't went well is a bit of an understatement. There's a lot of resentment from both sides. I felt really bad for Rose in that seen. When Rose goes to her next training with Dimitri she finally gets the chance to do some serious asskicking on the dummies with the stake and Dimitri told her she did a good job which made her glow like crazy. Totally cute!

Chapter 5:

Chapter five was my favorite so far because Dimitri wants Rose to learn that not all marks are badges of honor. So he takes her to meet Christian's aunt, Tasha. As we all know Tasha plays a big part in these books. Not that she's a lot in them but... you know. Just like Rose I liked her very much. So we find out that Tasha doesn't have guardians even though she's royal because of what happened with Christian's parents. She also has a regular job as martial arts teacher in the human world. This seems like a big injustice to Rose but we can see that Tasha doesn't really mind because it's just the way it is now. And in the end Rose got the lesson of "not all marks are badges of honor." And Dimitri called her Rose again. Bonus points there! =D
