Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 18

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.
Co-hosted by Christina @ Booksane and me!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter eighteen:

  • page 247 - 261
  • First sentence:
I woke up staring at the boring white ceiling of the clinic.

*spoiler alert*

This chapter starts out with Rose waking up in the clinic after she had her accident with the rotten bench. Dimitri is there when she wakes up so that's a bonus for her (and us). Rose finds out she's been out for a few hours and that she made quite the scene when they brought her in. She also finds out Dimitri carried her. Oh my. Rose was all flustered when she found out. So cute. Meanwhile Victor has send her a gift, the rose necklace that was too expensive for Lissa to buy for Rose. Yes. THAT necklace! We all know what it is. Dimitri also had a gift for Rose. Lip gloss, because Rose has been kind of whining about it. He did it because he thought it would make her happy. Aaaaawwww! Dying of cuteness over here! They had some really cute conversations and just *dreamy sigh* I do love ship them so much.
After that Rose slips into Lissa's mind and of course Lissa is freaking out and having dark thoughts and yadayada... then Christian shows up. Yay! He and Lissa have this discussion about how Lissa's brother, Andre, screwed Mia over and Lissa is all in denial and then Christian kisses Lissa! Squeeeee! Finally! I have so much love for this chapter. I really do. If only Lissa hadn't send him away. Le sigh again.

Quote:

He pulled back slightly, so he could see me better, but we didn't say anything. His eyes were so dark and deep that I wanted to dive right in. Staring at them made me feel warm all over, like they had flames inside. Slowly, carefully, those long fingers of his reached out and traced the edge of my cheekbone, moving up the side of my face. At the first touch of his skin on mine, I shivered. He wound a lock of my hair around one finger like he had in the gym.
