Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 7

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.
Co-hosted by Christina @ Booksane and me!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter Seven:

  • page 91 - 100
  • First sentence:
A couple of weeks passed after that, and I soon forgot about the Anna thing as life at the Academy wrapped around me.

*spoiler alert*

I'm just gonna jump right in and say... yes! more Rose and Dimitri training! Gotta love that.
So this was a pretty short chapter but yay we reached the first 100 pages. It goes really fast!
Anyway... it's a couple of weeks later and life at the academy is starting to get in a routine. Rose is getting better at the training, although still getting her ass kicked in class when she has to fight her peers. Training with Dimitri is only running and Rose questions why so she and him have this whole discussion about  what she'd do if she and Lissa would run into a Strigoi in the mall, which basically ends with, "you run." I was just glad there's finally more interaction between the two. They even went for a run together. And I totally love how Dimitri got annoyed when Mason called out to her and she waved at him. Don't think I haven't noticed that, Dimka! ;)
After that Rose got this total terrified feeling from Lissa so she ran to her, only to find out someone left a dead fox in Lissa's room. Ew! I'd totally forgotten about this part in the books. Just like Dimitri, you know something is up with that and that Rose and Lissa know more than they let on. Well, maybe not as much as knowin but more like you know something has happened in the past. More mystery!

Quote:

"Whoa, Dimitri," I said, tossing my bag on the floor. "I realize this is actually a current hit in Eastern Europe right now, but do you think we could maybe listen to something that wasn't recorded before I was born?"
Only his eyes flicked toward me; the rest of his posture remained the same. "What does it matter to you? I'm the one who's going to be listening to it. You'll be outside running."

  2. Hello again!! I thought this was a great chapter. I liked that Dimitri has a way with dealing with Rose's snarkiness and put's her in line. I also loved seeing her determination to please him which inspires and pushes her to be a better guardian. Yeah I agree - the fox part was so gross!

I completely forgot about the Dimka nickname!! love it <3
