To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

*spoiler alert*
This chapter was pretty interesting and it gave more information about St. Vladimir and what happened to make Rose and Lissa run away from the academy. It starts with Mason handing the books about St. Vladimir that he got from Christian to Rose. It would've been awesome if we could've read about this exchange. I think that would be freaking hilarious. Mason talking to Christian, what was probably the first time he did. So when Rose checked out the books she noticed there was some sort of diary that St. Vladimir had written all those years ago and now it's pretty obvious how he and Lissa are the same. About time! There was also a flashback about Sonia going crazy again, telling Rose she has to leave the Academy with Lissa or they'll come after her. She even used compulsion on Rose!
After that Mason busts Rose out of her room to go to some sort of party in Lissa's room, where Lissa has pretty much used compulsion on everyone to come and forget about Rose and the whole biting thing. It's here where we can see how much Rose is growing since she doesn't want to drink and thinks about how Dimitri said she needs to find the balance between fun and obligation. Then there was another flashback to a party years ago where Lissa was also losing her shit with compulsion and everything. And that's where Rose decided to actually leave the academy with her. And I gotta say if Lissa were my friend, she would totally freak me out with the way she's been acting.
And woop, we reached beyond page 200! =D

"Christian gave you these?"
"Yeah. Managed to talk to him without anyone noticing. He's got kind of an attitude, did you ever notice that?"
"Yeah, I noticed."

I just thought the whole "He's got kind of an attitude, did you ever notice that" thing was so hilarious. :')
And no Christian in this chapter, aww xD Too bad!
ReplyDeleteOnly a mention... :(
DeleteYou covered every point brilliantly! I wanted to mention the compulsion Sonia used on Rose and how much Rose has changed since her flashback memories. Brilliant post Stephanie :)
