To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter One:
~page 1 - 11~
First sentence:
I felt her fear before I heard her screams.
*spoiler alert*
Do not read this if you haven't read the books!
Okay... so, first of all I just need to say how much I love this series (and Bloodlines) and a certain sexy Moroi... But since he's not in this book yet I will not mention him here from now on. =D
Chapter one of Vampire Academy is a pretty good introduction. I love how it starts with Lissa having a nightmare and Rose waking her up, which introduces us to them in the meanwhile. Of course then there's the feeding, making things already mysterious and intriguing. We also learn that Rose and Lissa are on the run and people who haven't read the book will probably wonder why. I did too when I read it for the first time. Also we get introduced to Dimitri. I also loved the mention of Dimitri's typical coat. Him and that duster. Hmm.

Another thing I love is how Rose is determined to protect Lissa even though Rose is still weak from feeding Lissa. And that last sentence was pretty much epic; "I've come to take you back to St. Vladimir's Academy, Princess."
And so it starts...
And so it starts...

Her nightmare pulsed into me, shaking me out of my own dream, which had had something to do with a beach and some hot guy rubbing suntan oil on me.
