~My Review:
Caisey Quinn rocks!
One again she's written an unputdownable book about Kylie Ryans. It must've been really hard to try and live up to the success of the first book, Girl With Guitar, because it was such a fantastic, amazingly written book and that was just her debut!
So I'm sure we've (those who have read Girl With Guitar, that is) all been wondering if Girl on Tour would be just as fabulous as its predecessor. Did it live up to my expectations? HECK YES! Even more so than I thought it would. Girl on Tour was just as good as Girl With Guitar. But maybe with a little more heartache and a lot more "bang head against wall" feelings.
I probably said it before but I will say it again, I love Caisey Quinn's writing so much. Her books so far (the one's I have ready anyway) were all super! Something about the amazing way she writes her books draws me in and keeps me captivated word for word.
In Girl on Tour, Kylie is getting ready to go on the Random Road Trip tour. Although she's real sad to leave Trace, who's also going on a tour of his own, she's very excited to go, well, until she founds out she'll be touring with Mia, who seems to have it out for her for some reason and Lily, who acts like a spoiled princess all the time. But of course she is determined to not let it all bother her.
Meanwhile Trace has his own issues with trying to stay off the booze and dealing with his co-headliner, Gretchen, who according to Trace is even more of a mess than him.
It was kind of sad to not see Kylie and Trace together as much since they are on seperate tours, though Trace manages to come together with Kylie every now and then. But everything that happened in between + whenever their tours connected definitely made up for lost time.
I loved the drama betweent the girls on Kylie's tour. Imagine this; Three girls on one tour bus. Things will definitely get dramatic right? And spark will absolutely fly!
It's very easy to like Kylie. She's a great character to read about and so is Trace (I love his point of view! swoon, swoon swoon). I love him so much. Can't he be real? Anyway... The two of them just create fireworks. They're one of my favorite book couples nowadays. So, please, Caisey Quinn, don't break my heart too much with them.
As always there's a whole lot of music going on in these books and with Girl on Tour it's no different. I am so grateful to both this book and the first one to have discovered the magic of country music. I can't say this enough!
Aside from Kylie and Trace we got to get to know some other great characters like the other two girls who Kylie was on tour with, Mia, who we already met in the previous book, and Lily. The scenes with them all were a lot of fun and just awesome to read about and I loved the friendship between them that eventually formed.
The one thing I gotta admit about Kylie is that she almost never things things through, as you will see in this book. She's still the girl who acts first and thinks second but that's just why I like her so much. She has so much heart.
I felt myself being really scared for her and Trace's relationship because Caisey Quinn did warn us that this book was not going to have a happy ending. I will not spoil things and say if it's true or not but one thing I can say, get your tissues out!
Anyway... even with all the heartbreak and trust me, there is a whole lot of that going on, Girl on Tour was a really worthy sequel to Girl With Guitar. I loved reading it and am damn grateful as well to have received it for review early. This book and the first one are still my favorites in the new adult genre and let me just say that I can't wait for the third and final book in this series. I bet it's going to be just as amazing!
