Madeline Whittier is allergic to the outside world. So allergic, in fact, that she has never left the house in all of her seventeen years. But when Olly moves in next door, and wants to talk to Maddie, tiny holes start to appear in the protective bubble her mother has built around her. Olly writes his IM address on a piece of paper, shows it at her window, and suddenly, a door opens. But does Maddie dare to step outside her comfort zone?

Everything, Everything is about the thrill and heartbreak that happens when we break out of our shell to do crazy, sometimes death-defying things for love.

Everything, Everything definitely was one of the big surprises of 2015. I read it in almost one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. It was so good, I just wanted to read more and more. I especially loved the illustrations, messages, etc... those were so great and different from other books. I loved it.

The story revolves around Madeline Whittier who hasn't been outside in seventeen years because she has SCID syndrome, which means she's basically allergic to the world and can't go outside at all. Things start to change for her when Olly and his family move in next door. Eventually they exchange IM adresses and start getting to know each other. Maddie's nurse even lets Madeline see Olly but soon only seeing him isn't enough. She wants to really live.

Maddie was a great character. She was really sweet and ven though she has lived with this disease her whole life, it hasn't put her down. Also, she' loves books so that's always a reason to like someone. I also loved Olly. His family life isn't the greatest and I loved how he and Maddie connected, which gave him a break from his father.

The writing was so so beautiful. There were quite a few quotes that stood out to me that I just want to re-read over and over. The ending was pretty mindblowing. So unexpected and different from other book endings. I did think a time or two that it wasn't all going to end well. So that was another reason why I wanted to keep reading so badly, I needed to know how it was going to end.

So what more can I say? I loved everything about this book. Literally EVERYTHING! Like I said it's one of the big surprises of 2015 for me. And also, I can't believe this is the author's debut book because it was so good. I'm definitely excited to see what else she'll write in the future. I'd highly recommend this book to everyone!

  1. Lovely, Steph! Your review makes me want this so bad. *grabby hands* Will I cry reading it? Or just get punched in the feels quite a bit?

  3. I've never heard about this book before, but it seems like a really good read. Not something that I normally read, but I think I might give it a try - something new for a change! :D Thanks for sharing, and great review! Glad you enjoyed this so much.

  4. I have to admit I was a tiny bit disappointed in Everything, Everything only because I had such high expectations and the ending for me was a tiny bit flat. But the writing was absolutely gorgeous and I loved the characters so much! The way the book was laid out (with the emails, etc.) was super cool too :) I will definitely need to reread this one next year because I miss the writing! Fantastic review, Stephanie :D

  5. Yaaas! I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! The ending is either a hit or miss and while I like it, I heard from loads of other people that THIS is the reason they ended up rating it with less stars. Ohhh well. :D Great review! ♥
