Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 10

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.
Co-hosted by Christina @ Booksane and me!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter Ten:

  • page 126 - 136
  • First sentence:
"Excuse me, Mr. Nagy? I can't really concentrate with Lissa and Rose passing notes over there."

*spoiler alert*

I know I shouldn't find the misery of Rose and Lissa so funny but damn if I didn't laugh when they got caught passing notes and their teacher read it out loud to the class. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help myself. It was just kind of funny. Especially the teacher's comments on some things in the note. But I must admit it kind of sucked for Lissa to have to do 2 detentions. And, psh, Jesse all scared about Dimitri and asking Rose not to say anything to him. Coward. But, hey, who wouldn't be afraid of Dimitri the way he handled Jesse before. Still makes me laugh, though.
In the next scene we (finally) find out the "other" thing that happened before when Rose and Lissa were at the academy, with the raven, where Lissa made it alive again. If that'd happened to me + a weird teacher going a little crazy over it, yeah I'd be weirded out too. Though everyone who's read this book knows why Sonia reacted the way she did. Can't blame her.
After that Rose ran into Mason and we find out he did more research about St. Vladimir and Anna. Not that he found anything useful. Rose also finally finds out that Mason is crazy about her. I kind of dislike the way she treated him there. She wasn't mean or anything but he only wants to help with the rumours going around about her and she pretty much shuts him down. I love Mason so much and it's just so sad knowing what's coming in the next book. Le sigh...

Quote:

I still hadn't cleared Christian of the fox incident—I was pretty sure he was psycho enough to have done it as some crazy sign of affection for Lissa—but whatever his motives, he had shifted the attention off her, just as he'd said.

I just love any mention of Christian. lol

  1. I totally agree with you :) I also found the note passing amusing and the teacher's comments funny. It did suck for Lissa that she had to cover Rose's DT - but she didn't even complain! Mason is such a great character, Rose still has a lot to go through and learn :(
This was such an amazingly important chapter. I forgot how detailed it was :)
