Gilmore Girls Book Tag ~ Part 2

In honor of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life me and Christina @ Booklover's Tea Party decided to post the Gilmore Girls Book Tag from Yvonne @ A World Between Folded Pages.

1. 1000 yellow daisies
- favorite romance -

StephanieI have countless favorite romances but the first one coming to mind is Beyond the Cut by Sarah Castille, a biker romance. The bikers in this series have stolen my heart, especially Cade. I have a paperback copy of this book because I was supposed to get the e-arc but the publisher messed it up by accident so none of us got it for the blog tour so they all send us a copy.

Christina: Wait for you by Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn. Beautiful and sweet book. I love it and all the others that follow in that series.

2. Jess
- an unpopular opinion / most swoon-worthy book boyfriend -

StephanieI absolutely hate Patch from Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series. Needless to say I never finished the series and I never really liked any other books featuring angels. All because of Patch.

I have way too many swoon-worthy book boyfriends. I'll just name a few here. Adrian Ivashkov (Vampire Academy), Jericho Barrons (Fever series), Oliver Montrose (FREAKS series), Jamie Fraser (Outlander), Will Herondale (Infernal Devices), Ian O'Shea (The Host) and so on and on...

Christina: My unpopular opinion is that I ship Logan and Rory. I love Jess, he is amazing. But well so is Logan and after everything I just see him and Rory together in the end.
But book wise… Guess I have to mention the Black Dagger brotherhood books. I feel like so many love them and praise them and everything, but I just don’t see it. I can barely get through one. Basically… I hate them.

Swoon Worthy book boyfriend. Just one? There’s Bones from Night Huntress, Jace from The Mortal Instruments and his ancestor Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices as well. Perry from Under the Never sky, Matthew from A discovery of witches (I feel like this is turning into a poem or something, lol). The Host has Ian, The hunger games has Peeta and also Finnick, more recently we have Rhysand in A court of mist and fury. The Forbidden Wish has ALADDIN! And with that amazing one we end this long list.

3. First snow
- snowy or holiday read -

StephanieDoes Iced by Karen Marie Moning count as snowy? I think it does. lol

Christina: Let it Snow and The Bite Before Christmas. Especially Let it Snow is such a great holiday read, sweet and Christmassy stories.
Whereas The Bite Before Christmas is more part of a series, or two actually, so you have to know the characters for the best experience.

4. HEP Alien
- book centered around music -

StephanieGirl With Guitar by Caisey Quinn. These book center about country singer Kylie who's starting to make it in the music business and falls in love with superstar Trace Corbin. One of my favorite NA books.

Christina: Lick, Play and Lead by Kylie Scott. Each feature music and each focus on different bandmembers (and yes on purpose I did not mention the last one, cause wasn’t as good).

5. He'd better have a motorcycle
- your book crush -

StephanieI could name all my swoon worthy book boyfriends but I'll just pick someone I haven't named yet. RHYSAND!

Christina: Obviously there is many, but one that will always have a special place is Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices.

6. It's repetitive and Redundant
- a book that could have been shorter -
StephanieA Game of Thrones maybe? I think it definitely works as long books with how detailed they are but it took me SO long to finished.

Christina: I have no answer. I really don’t know. I have long books sure, but none I felt that I wanted to be shorter.

7. Kirk
- the weirdest book you've ever read -

StephanieAn Abduction Revelation by Thomas L. Hay - this book wasn't bad at all, it was just a bit weird.

Christina: The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. Porn star drunk drives, crashes suffering burns that cause him to lose his manhood and he has to stay in the burn unit. While there he gets visits from a woman telling him stories about their former life. I had to finish it just to see what happened. It wasn’t awful or anything, just very different and writing style wasn’t really me, but yeah I had to finish to see how that ended and where it went.

8. Sookie
- a character that makes you laugh -

StephanieSimon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments. There are many characters that make me laugh but Simon really is hilarious with the things he says. Also honorable mentions: Adrian Ivashkov (Vampire Academy and Bloodlines) and Kenji Kishimoto (Shatter Me trilogy)

Christina: Recently, Cassian from A Court of Mist & Fury. One of my all time favorites though is Ian from the Night Huntress series. He is hilarious! Think Simon from the Mortal Instruments came before him though so he definitely deserves a mention as well. He just gets better and better and still laugh when I think of him and Jace grocery shopping together.

9. It's a lifestyle. It's a religion
- one book that means more to you than any other -

StephanieArtemis Fowl and Airman by Eoin Colfer. Artemis Fowl is my favorite book ever and Airman just gives me so many feels!

Christina: Actually a hard one, all my books mean something to me. But the Mortal Instruments books really brought me and my best friend closer way back then. We bonded over the love of these books and this world.

10. Rory
- a favorite character who is a bookworm -

StephanieKaty from the Lux series. She's even a blogger! And Mac from the Fever series likes books too so I have to mention her again.

Christina: The first I encountered and one who is still my favorite is Katy from the LUX series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Great book and Katy is an awesome character, Reader and blogger.

Now we felt that someone was missing. Logan. Rory’s two other guys, Dean and Jess are there so only fair that Logan should be here, too. Plus we both love him.

11. Logan
- “Ace”. Favorite nickname for character –

StephanieMy favorite nickname for a character is "Rainbow Girl" that Barrons calls Mac *at times* in the Fever series. I also love it when he calls her Ms. Lane but not sure if it counts as nickname since Lane is her last name. But I just think that Rainbow Girl is so precious for them.

Christina: Can’t I go with Logan’s nickname for Rory? I love it so! I squealed when he called her Ace in the revival. However, definitely some to choose from in the book world. Matthew from All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness calls Diana “Mon Coeur” which is just French for my heart or something, but the way he uses that nickname to express his love to her by calling her that is just beautiful.

Gilmore Girls Book Tag ~ Part 1

In honor of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life me and Christina @ Booklover's Tea Party decided to post the Gilmore Girls Book Tag from Yvonne @ A World Between Folded Pages.

1.   I just got hit by a deer!
- character having the worst day ever –

Christina: Under the never sky, The Hunger games, Maze Runner. Any dystopian book really? Are there ever any of those where we get into it and think oh what a lovely day, sun is shining, birds are chirping. Never takes long for it all to go to hell all in the span of one day and usually brings the characters closer to an awful death unless they somehow survive.

Stephanie: Sophie Hatter in Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. She sure has a bad day when the Witch of the Waste puts her under that spell that changes her into an old lady. But then again, she met Howl because of that so it definitely was worth it, I think.

2. Stars Hollow
- wildly eccentric cast-

Christina: Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost. Took me a little while to think of one, but then I remembered.. I pretty much love everybody in the Night Huntress series. They’re all different; all have their own unique personality. Some crazy *cough* Ian *cough* some badass like Cat herself and of course Bones, I mean still one of my all time favorite vampires.

Stephanie: The characters of Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. There are vampires, ghosts, demons, ghouls etc. It's also one of my very favorite series!

3. Kim's Antiques
- a world you'd be afraid to enter –

Christina: Again I’lll say, any dystopian book..  None that I have read so far is a place I want to be. Does not seem fun. Think I’d be terrified to enter the Hunger games though.

StephanieMy mind jumps to a bunch of dystopian books but that seems too obvious so I'm going with the world of An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I loved the book but to live inside it would be pretty terrifying.

4. Coffee
- a book you're addicted to –

Christinaa book as in just one? Impossible. So many series and books to love and more being added all the time. I want to mention the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare cause that series was one of the first where I really had the whole “JUST GIVE ME THE NEXT!” I mean I read the first in Danish and that didn’t stop me from buying them myself in English like I want and going right on to the second, cause no way was I going back, I had to know what would happen next.
More recent one is Sarah J. Maas A Court of Thorns and Roses. Really couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next and you know the books hasn’t even been standing that long on the shelf before I picked it up and now I am finally reading the second.

Stephanie: Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning (and any other book in the series). I just love these books and it's my top favorite current series so I'll be beyond sad when the last book releases in January. *sniffles*

5. Lorelai & Luke
 - a book about best friends who fall in love –

Christina: I can’t believe I had to think about this. When I first remembered the book I just went Duh cause obviously it’s With a twist by Staci Hart. I love this book! Kind of like Luke and Lorelai it takes a while before either wants to admit that they have more feelings for eachother, and West the Luke of the story realized first and then came Lily the Lorelai and finally, FINALLY they found eachother.
Honorary mention, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. Since their story isn’t done yet, who knows what will happen. But so far I really like Emma and Julian.

StephanieEmma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn in Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. They're not only best friends but also parabatai.

6. Mr. Medina
- an illicit affair –

Christina: Hmmm, I kind of think of Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover because they are keeping it a secret and it’s all about the sex and nothing more and they also hide it from Tate’s brother.

Stephanie: Nico by Sarah Castille. This is my current read and so far the book is amazing. The illicit affair in it is between Nico and Mia who are from rival mafia families. The chemistry is off the charts!

7. Dean
- first book love –

Christina: So when I first started reading, I read in Danish obviously. With those I had a completely different taste compared to now. It was all these teen books about boys and all that. Then one day, I saw Twilight the movie with my friend and don’t know, just thought I want that book and I want it in English because it’s the original language. So by some miracle the book store actually had an English shelf and of course Twilight was on there. The rest is history I guess. I read it, loved it. Read it multiple times before I got my hands on some of next in the series. Then came the Host, which I remember I had to order from the bookstore to get it. So it’s Twilight, but also the Host because the Host brought me deeper into the much bigger universe of books, with so many options because I didn’t have to count on which the danes wanted to translate. And of course The Host is what me and Stephanie first bonded over. We’re still waiting for that sequel.

Stephanie: Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I've always loved reading even before I read the book but Artemis Fowl was the first one that I wanted to read over and over again which is exactly what I did.

8. Luke's Diner
- a comfort read –

Christina: I guess now I don’t really have one. Sure I get the urge to take certain books and read in them a bit, but a full on re-read because I feel like it never really happens. The only time that happened was back when the only book I owned was twilight so I read that over and over. Also happened with The Host though, partly because I didn’t have anything else, other than the twilight books, but also because well it was that good. I guess now my comfort reads are the romance books I read on my kindle.

Stephanie: Airman by Eoin Colfer. This book always makes me cry but everytime I start reading it I feel like I'm coming home, if that makes any sense. Love it!

9. Am I crying or laughing?
- a book that messed with your emotions –

Christina: Clockwork princess by Cassandra Clare. I had a full on sob crying going on at the end and it’s wasn’t because it was like sad sad. It was sad, but also just beautiful and all the emotions in there just got to me. I tried it the next day… still cried.

Stephanie:  Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. One of the best books ever and the elephant stories in it were amazing but damn that ending. Totally didn't expect it at all.

10. I pushed him in the lake!
- a book you'd throw in a lake –

Christina: A book I want to throw in a lake doesn’t really need to be a bad one. Some of the best are usually the ones I want to throw away because they make me feel so much and then when the character does something stupid I just want to throw it away. Also happens with the end of series where that are really good where I just want to throw it away, because how dare it end.  I have mentioned it before, but Clockwork Princess.. the end of that, all I wanted to do was throw it away- in anger that it was over, amazement, the end gave me so many feels you have no idea.
However a book where I forced myself to finish and really wanted to give up was Lover Eternal by J.R Ward.. I know a lot love those Black Dagger brotherhood books, but my god I am sorry I just can’t with those. I already had to force myself through the 1st and the second just got worse so yeah multiple times I wanted to throw it in a lake or burn it or something just to get it to stop.

Stephanie: People who know me well will not be surprised by my choice: The Elite by Keira Cass. I hated that book with a passion.

The Pixar Book Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Yvonne from A World Between Folded Pages ♥

Toy Story — A book where you wanted the characters to come to life.

This is a pretty hard question because there are so many books where I want the characters to come to life. But I think I would pick the W.A.R.P. trilogy by Eoin Colfer. Riley and Chevie in particular. And Otto Malarkey, too, because I love him and he can introduce me to Conor Broekhart. It would be the most fun to hang out with Riley I think because he's from the Victorian era.

A Bugs Life — A character who goes through a transformation.

Easy one! Mac from Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. And maybe Dani too. Oooh and Christian! There are obviously a lot of characters who go through a transformation in the Fever series but I think Mac, Dani and Christian change the most.

Up — A book whose characters quickly made you become emotionally invested in.

Going with a recent read for this one. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas It's crazy how emotionally invested I am with the characters in this book. Like seriously...

Finding Nemo — “P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney” A book that has an address or quote that’s burned into your memory forever.

Going back to the Fever series with this one  '1247 LaRuhe' It is the address of the Lord Master a.k.a. Darroc, which is located in a Dark Zone in Dublin in the books.

The Incredibles — Coolest Book Family.

The Blackthorn family from Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I loooove the Blackthorn siblings. They're definitely one of the coolest book families out there.

Monsters Inc. — A strong character develops a soft side for someone.

At first I wanted to go with Barrons who develops a soft side for Mac but I've mentioned the Fever series twice already so I'm just gonna go with Holly Short from Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series who develops a soft side for well... Artemis Fowl. And vice versa too!

Cars 1, 2, 3 — A book that keeps getting sequels you feel are not needed.

The Selection series by Kiera Cass. I really dislike using the word hate but this series... Although I have only read the first three, I think it should've stopped after book #3. There is no other series that annoys me more. Just... ugh!

Ratatouille — A book featuring a non-human/humanoid.

The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series so it's no wonder I'm picking Cinder for this one!

Wall-E — A book that made you lonely.

Hmm... I don't want to say Airman by Eoin Colfer made me feel lonely exactly. I felt the main character's loneliness is more accurate, I think. This book is brilliant and one of the author's best book but it's also kind of sad at some points. Especially when Conor Broekhart is imprisoned.

Brave — Name a book with a strong mother/daughter relationship.

I'm kind of stuck with this question because there aren't many strong mother/daughter relationships in the books I have read. Kind of sad! But if I have to answer then I would say Clary and Jocelyn from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Clary goes through a lot to save her mother in that first book.

Inside Out — Name a book that could be one of your core memories.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I didn't even have to think about that one. This book means so freaking much to me. It's been my favorite book since I was 13/14 and I believe it will always be my favorite. ♥

And as always anyone who feels like doing this tag can do it.

Inside & Out Book Tag

I found this awesome tag on Books, Biscuits & Tea, which Vicky posted a while ago. It looked like fun so I decided to do it.

Inside flap / Back of the book summaries: Too much info? Or not enough (Discuss)

I never really gave this much thought so this is an interesting question. I don't like it when a summary is too long. It might reveal too much things or if I'm in a bookstore I might not have enough time to read long summaries so I'd rather have one that's on the short side.

New book: What form do you want it in? Be honest: audio book, e-book, paperback, or hardcover?

Paperback. Of course there are exceptions where I buy new books as e-books mostly when the price is really low but paperback is still my favorite to read in.

Scribble while you read? Do you like to write in your books, taking notes, making comments, or do you keep your books clean clean clean? (Tell us why)

Clean! Always clean! I can't even think about writing in my books *shudders*. I'm not entirely sure why, but I need my books to be clean without anything written in. When I borrow books from the library and there are things written in I actually feel horrified. But other than that I'm totally normal... lol

In your best voice, read for us your favourite first sentence from a book.

I've always loved the start (part of the prologue) of my favorite book, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. And also, I'll be giving a few more sentences instead of only one. I just can't help myself!

How does one describe Artemis Fowl? Various psychiatrists have tried and failed. The main problem is Artemis's own intelligence. He bamboozles every test thrown at him. He has puzzled the greatest medical minds and sent many of them gibbering to their own hospitals.

Does it matter to you whether the author is male or female when you’re deciding on a book? What if you’re unsure of the author’s gender?

It doesn't matter to me at all. I do have to say I've read more books by female authors but I also love reading books by male authors. My favorite author (who's mentioned in the previous answer) is male, so yeah... I really have no preference.

Ever read ahead? Or have you ever read the last page way before you got there?

I have never read the before page before I got there but I do admit that sometimes a take a sneak peek to some pages ahead when I am reading. Usually I hit myself on the head for that when I read a spoiler but sometimes I can't help myself.

Organized bookshelves, or outrageous bookshelves?

Organized. To other people it might not look organized but it really is. At least for me. A part of my shelves are organized by genre and another part by favorites.

Under oath: have you ever bought a book based on the cover (alone)?

Oh yes. I've been known to buy books because I like their covers. I usually do know pretty much what the books are about, though, even if I wouldn't have read the synopsis. But still, I judge books by their covers. Guilty!

Take it outside to read, or stay in?

Stay in! I do sometimes read outside when I have to take public transportation, which is fairly often, but I like reading inside more because I can snuggle up under a blanket and drink some hot tea. That's my kind of heaven! ♥

This tag really was so much fun. I loved the questions!
I'm not tagging anyone, so if you want to do this tag... just go for it!
