In the sequel to New York Times bestselling A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Brigid Kemmerer returns to the world of Emberfall in a lush fantasy where friends become foes and love blooms in the darkest of places.

Find the heir, win the crown.
The curse is finally broken, but Prince Rhen of Emberfall faces darker troubles still. Rumors circulate that he is not the true heir and that forbidden magic has been unleashed in Emberfall. Although Rhen has Harper by his side, his guardsman Grey is missing, leaving more questions than answers.

Win the crown, save the kingdom.
Rumored to be the heir, Grey has been on the run since he destroyed Lilith. He has no desire to challenge Rhen--until Karis Luran once again threatens to take Emberfall by force. Her own daughter Lia Mara sees the flaws in her mother’s violent plan, but can she convince Grey to stand against Rhen, even for the good of Emberfall?

The heart-pounding, compulsively readable saga continues as loyalties are tested and new love blooms in a kingdom on the brink of war.

Oh my god, A Heart So Fierce and Broken was everything I wanted, needed and more! I'm not gonna go into A Curse So Dark and Lonely and how I was disappointed by it (wasn it a fluke? I don't know!) but that made reading and loving this sequel that more special to me. Not being a fan of the first book made me decide to listen to the second one as an audiobook and this turned out to be a good decision because the narrators were really great. I always enjoyed listening to them and never got sick of it.

I have so many feelings and things to say about this book I almost don't know where to start. I'll start with the characters. Rhen and Harper were in the book but they were secondary characters in it, of course. Speaking of Rhen... the story definitely took a turn with him. You'll get no spoilers from me but wow. This was more Grey's book and introduced the character of Lia Mara. What can I say about Grey? I love him so much. Like ugh! Lia Mara was a fantastic new character. I loved her as well. And them together was just fireworks. Their chemistry was off the charts and they made my heart hurt so much. They are my new OTP for sure!

There were so many twists and turns in this book that it made me gasp out loud on so many times. This can be kinda embarrassing since I only listened to the audiobook when I had to take public transportation but whatever, it was all so worth it. And the end... I can tell you that you so won't be ready for it. I wasn't. Holy crap!

Heart-pounding is definitely the right word to describe A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer. Even just thinking back about it makes my heartbeat pick up its pace. I loved it and I already can't wait for book three next year. Bring it on, Brigid!
