Teaser Tuesdays: Not a Drop to Drink & The Elite

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB @ Should Be Reading.

I have two teasers from two different books for you all today.
Enjoy! =)

Teaser #1:
“There's a famous line from a poem about the ocean," Mother had finally said to end the discussion. "'Water water every where, but not a drop to drink.'"

~Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis
ebook
Expected publication: September 24th 2013 by Katherine Tegen Books
Regret was for people with nothing to defend, people who had no water.

Lynn knows every threat to her pond: drought, a snowless winter, coyotes, and, most importantly, people looking for a drink. She makes sure anyone who comes near the pond leaves thirsty, or doesn't leave at all.

Confident in her own abilities, Lynn has no use for the world beyond the nearby fields and forest. Having a life means dedicating it to survival, and the constant work of gathering wood and water. Having a pond requires the fortitude to protect it, something Mother taught her well during their quiet hours on the rooftop, rifles in hand.

But wisps of smoke on the horizon mean one thing: strangers. The mysterious footprints by the pond, nighttime threats, and gunshots make it all too clear Lynn has exactly what they want, and they won’t stop until they get it….

With evocative, spare language and incredible drama, danger, and romance, debut author Mindy McGinnis depicts one girl’s journey in a barren world not so different than our own.

Teaser #2:
Once he was gone, I closed my eyes and pulled everything from our short time together: the way he stared at me, the playful smiles, the sweet kisses. I thought about them over and over as I got ready for bed, wondering if Maxon was doing the same.

~The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass
Paperback,, 323 pages
Published April 23rd 2013 by HarperTeen
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestseller The Selection.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

  1. Nice teasers, Not A Drop To Drink looks like a great read that I'm adding to my TBR pile. I'm enjoying The Selection Trilogy too! Check out my teaser @ This Is How It's Supposed To Be

  2. I want to read Not A Drop To Drink so badly! It has such a unique looking cover. I read The Elite a little while back, but I didn't really enjoy it as much as I enjoyed The Selection. America annoyed me way too much. >.<

    Here's my #TT.
