Quote of the Week #2

My Quote of the Week is a weekly memes hosted by Paranormal Book Fan where you can feature your favorite quotes.

My quote of this week comes from:

Haunting Violet by Alyxandra Harvey

~ Tucking my nose into a book makes me completely oblivious to my surroundings. I would have made a terrible spy in the army--the first person to hand me a novel would have been able to shoot my head clean off without me noticing. ~

Dirty Little Secret #2

Dirty Little Secret is a weekly meme hosted by  Under the Covers. Every Thursday we get to know other bloggers and readers more intimately by asking them a question hoping to reveal their dirty little secrets.

What book has been sitting in your TBR pile the longest and why haven't you picked it up yet? Or more importantly, will you ever read it now that its been sitting there forever?

That's a very good question. I have SO MUCH books on my shelf that need to be read... but one that has been on it for the longest has to be;

Gone by Michael Grant

I think it's been sitting on my shelf for over a year now. I also have the other books in the series. The reason I haven't gotten to them yet is that I have too many other books that need reading. I also have A LOT of other books that I need to read that have been  on my TBR pile at least as long as Gone. Like... all the other books in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison (I'm currently at the 4th one, but it's on hold.), All the other books in Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. Only read the first two, The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa, ...
I'm hoping I'll be able to read Gone soon, I love the genre and people say the books are really good. But *sigh* so many other books!

Waiting On Wednesday #9

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Heaven (Halo, #3) by Alexandra Adorneto                                                                                             Expected publication: August 21st 2012

Only sixteen when she started the series, Ally Adornetto knows how teen hearts beat, and this long-awaited conclusion is certain to be her most popular book yet.                                 Bethany, an angel sent to Earth, and her mortal boyfriend, Xavier, have been to Hell and back. But now their love will be put to its highest test yet, as they defy Heavenly law and marry. They don’t tell Beth’s archangel siblings, Gabriel and Ivy, but the angels know soon enough, and punishment comes in a terrifying form: the Sevens, who are rogue angels bent on keeping Beth and Xavier apart, destroying Gabriel and Ivy, and darkening angelic power in the heavens. The only way Bethany and Xavier can elude the Sevens is to hide in the open, and blend in with other mortals their own age. Gabriel and Ivy set them up at college, where they can’t reveal their relationship, and where there is still danger around each corner. Will Bethany be called back to Heaven – forever – and face leaving the love of her life?

Teaser Tuesdays #8

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

~ Since I'm reading two books I'll put teasers up from both of them. ~

Long gold hair, eyes so light they looked silvery, and golden skin, the man was blindingly beautiul. Every hair on my body lifted, all over, in unison. And I got the strangest thought: He's not human
~page 26, Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning~

"I think you like him," Jenks persisted. "He's got a nice body."
My breath came quick. "Okay, I like him," I admitted. "But it takes more than a nice body, Jenks. Jeez, I do have a little depth. You've got a great body, and you don't see me trying to get into your Fruit of the Looms."
~page 173, A Fistful of Charms (The Hollows, #4) by Kim Harrison~

~ Anyone can participate in Teaser Tuesdays. Just do the following:
 • Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers! ☺ ~

Waiting On Wednesday #8

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick of this week is:

Destined (Wings, #4) by Aprilynne Pike

Expected publication: May 1st 2012

Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and she is working with Klea to conquer and destroy Avalon. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares for a fight she never thought she would have to face.

Filled with heart-pounding action, sweeping romance, and higher stakes at every turn, Destined is the series conclusion that readers have been clamoring for—with a twist that will leave them breathless.

Tamani looked at her gravely, and reached up to touch her hair behind her ear. He hesitated for an instant, then his hands found the sides of her face, pulling her to him. He didn't kiss her, just held her face to his, their foreheads resting together, their noses almost touching.

She hated how much it felt like good-bye.
