Callie Jacobsen isn't about to open her heart to just anyone. Not so very long ago, trusting someone changed her life forever—and not in a fun way. Now she's better off focusing on her career, her friends, and her dog. So when former Marine Everett Silverton takes an interest in her, Callie's more than a little wary. No matter how charming he is, men are a bad idea. In fact, she's got the scars to prove it. But Everett isn't convinced Callie should shut everyone out—especially not him. He may be a hero to the people of Rock Canyon, but he's got his own demons, and he bets they're not that different from Callie's. Still, he knows it's going to take more than chemistry to get her to let her guard down. Everett will do whatever it takes to show her she's safe with him. All she has to do is take a chance, take a step … and take his hand.

Getting My Reading Groove Back by Codi Gary
I think the hardest part for me since being published is reading as much as I used to. Before I hopped onto this crazy ride, I was borrowing and reading six books or more a week from my local library, and more than that from my shelves and ereaders. I binge read for three months straight just before I wrote The Trouble with Sexy and couldn’t stop. It had become an addiction.
But now, when I pick up a new book to read, the guilt seeps inside, and a wicked voice whispers, “You should be writing more, not reading…write! WRITE!”
So, just to avoid the guilt, I’ve backed off of book binging (and also because my time management sucks donkey poo). And when I do read, it tends to be something from my favorite’s shelf…because sometimes, you just need the comfort of something familiar.
After last year’s meager 25 books read, however, I decided that this would be the year that I got my book reading groove back. I made a list of all the books on my shelf, and starting April 1st, I am going to read three books a week (more if I can swing it) and watch less TV, use less social media, etc. I need to remind myself why I started writing in the first place…and that’s because I used to get wrapped up in wonderful tales that took me to another world and made reality a little more bearable at times.
