TRACE thought he was finally getting to do things his way. Until the label added co-headliner Gretchen Gibson, the only person in country music with more issues than him, to his No Apologies tour.

Because chasing your dreams and following your heart don’t always lead you to the same place…

~My Review:

Caisey Quinn rocks!
One again she's written an unputdownable book about Kylie Ryans. It must've been really hard to try and live up to the success of the first book, Girl With Guitar, because it was such a fantastic, amazingly written book and that was just her debut!
So I'm sure we've (those who have read Girl With Guitar, that is) all been wondering if Girl on Tour would be just as fabulous as its predecessor. Did it live up to my expectations? HECK YES! Even more so than I thought it would. Girl on Tour was just as good as Girl With Guitar. But maybe with a little more heartache and a lot more "bang head against wall" feelings.
I probably said it before but I will say it again, I love Caisey Quinn's writing so much. Her books so far (the one's I have ready anyway) were all super! Something about the amazing way she writes her books draws me in and keeps me captivated word for word.

In Girl on Tour, Kylie is getting ready to go on the Random Road Trip tour. Although she's real sad to leave Trace, who's also going on a tour of his own, she's very excited to go, well, until she founds out she'll be touring with Mia, who seems to have it out for her for some reason and Lily, who acts like a spoiled princess all the time. But of course she is determined to not let it all bother her.
Meanwhile Trace has his own issues with trying to stay off the booze and dealing with his co-headliner, Gretchen, who according to Trace is even more of a mess than him.

It was kind of sad to not see Kylie and Trace together as much since they are on seperate tours, though Trace manages to come together with Kylie every now and then. But everything that happened in between + whenever their tours connected definitely made up for lost time.
I loved the drama betweent the girls on Kylie's tour. Imagine this; Three girls on one tour bus. Things will definitely get dramatic right? And spark will absolutely fly!

It's very easy to like Kylie. She's a great character to read about and so is Trace (I love his point of view! swoon, swoon swoon). I love him so much. Can't he be real? Anyway... The two of them just create fireworks. They're one of my favorite book couples nowadays. So, please, Caisey Quinn, don't break my heart too much with them.
As always there's a whole lot of music going on in these books and with Girl on Tour it's no different. I am so grateful to both this book and the first one to have discovered the magic of country music. I can't say this enough!
Aside from Kylie and Trace we got to get to know some other great characters like the other two girls who Kylie was on tour with, Mia, who we already met in the previous book, and Lily. The scenes with them all were a lot of fun and just awesome to read about and I loved the friendship between them that eventually formed.

The one thing I gotta admit about Kylie is that she almost never things things through, as you will see in this book. She's still the girl who acts first and thinks second but that's just why I like her so much. She has so much heart.
I felt myself being really scared for her and Trace's relationship because Caisey Quinn did warn us that this book was not going to have a happy ending. I will not spoil things and say if it's true or not but one thing I can say, get your tissues out!

Anyway... even with all the heartbreak and trust me, there is a whole lot of that going on, Girl on Tour was a really worthy sequel to Girl With Guitar. I loved reading it and am damn grateful as well to have received it for review early. This book and the first one are still my favorites in the new adult genre and let me just say that I can't wait for the third and final book in this series. I bet it's going to be just as amazing!

Review: The Wish List by Eoin Colfer

Title: The Wish List
Author: Eoin Colfer
Publication: July 1st 2004 by Scholastic Inc.
Genre: Young Adult ~ Paranormal
Format: Paperback, 256 pages
Cover Rating: 4/5
Overall Rating: 5/5

Eoin Colfer has made millions of fans around the world with his much-loved character, Artemis Fowl, the star of his hugely best-selling series. Now, in a beautifully written novel that is already breaking records in his native Ireland, Colfer introduces readers to a lovable but troubled heroine, who has been given the opportunity for a special kind of redemption.

Meg Finn is in trouble-unearthly trouble. Cast out of her home by her stepfather after her mother's death, Meg is a wanderer, a troublemaker. But after her latest stunt, finding a place to sleep is the least of her worries. Belch, her partner in crime, has gotten her involved in the attempted robbery of an elderly man, Lowrie McCall. And things go horribly wrong. After an accidental explosion, Meg's spirit is flung into limbo, and a race begins between the demonic and the divine to win her soul. Irreverent, hilarious, and touchingly hopeful, The Wish List takes readers on a journey of second chances, where joy is found in the most unexpected places.

~My Thoughts:

The Wish List is no Artemis Fowl but, damn it, if I didn't love it!
For a long time now I've had a dislike to heaven/hell - angel/demon books. I can't quite explain why but from all paranormal books I dislike books about that certain topic the least. However, Eoin Colfer shows with The Wish List how you write a truly great book in this topic. It was fun, very humoristic. I laughed a lot. But it was also very heart warming.

Eoin Colfer always creates amazing characters that I love. Meg Finn was one of them. Though I tend to read more books where the main characters are 16+, I really like Eoin's characters who tend to be more of the age of 12+. Meg was 14 in this book and I loved her. She had a lot to deal with in her life, like her mother dying, which left her all alone with her awful stepfather. When she gets involved in a attempted robbery of the elderly Lowrie McCall together with Belch things go wrong when an explosion occurs which causes for both Meg and Belch to die. As a spirit, Meg ends up in limbo, right in the middle between hell and heaven. To go to heaven she'll have to help Lowrie McCall to do all the things on his Wish List. But Belch is on her heels to stop her from doing the good deed she'll do if she helps Lowrie.

The Wish List is a very fast, light book but nevertheless amazing as I always expect from a Colfer book. Is it the best book of him? No, of course not. That honor (in my opinion) goes to Artemis Fowl but if you want to read something different by him, you should definitely try it. I'm sure no one will be able to put it down once they start this adventure!

Quote:
"What you must do is foil their plans. Whatever McCall asks Finn to do, you must see to it that she fails."
Belch nodded. Made sense. In a Spockish sort of a way.

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
ebook, 352 pages
Expected publication: January 28th 2014 by Balzer + Bray
Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl's journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.

Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.

Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

I have read so many amazing books this month but Cruel Beauty was without a doubt the best one. As a matter of fact it's the best book I have read so far this year! And I'm even rereading it now, a few days after I finished. It's THAT good!
Honorable mentions go to: Inside Out, Scarlet, The Phantom of the Opera, The Wish List and Perfect Lies.
