Ever since I read Prisoner back in 2014 I wanted another book in this world. I think in my review of that book I even put the following sentence: "There will be a sequel right?!" Yeah, you can say I've been waiting for a while. Not only did Prisoner introduce me to Skye Warren, who ended up being one of my favorite authors, along with Annika Martin but it also ended up being a favorite book of mine to this very day. So you can imagine my excitement when their new book Hostage was announced. I didn't hesitate when I got the chance to read it for this blog tour. I practically devoured the story. I started reading it one evening and the next day I already finished it. Hostage was SO good!

I loved the two main characters, Brooke and Stone. When they first met I was wondering how it would all play out for them because of their age difference and how they lived in two complete different worlds. She was a rich high school kid and he a criminal not opposed to murdering the ones who have wronged him and the ones he cares for. I had my reservations at first but somehow it all worked out perfectly. It was honestly really good writing by both authors.

I would call Hostage a dark romance but it wasn't the darkest I've read. And the romance certainly was intense. Brooke and Stone had some serious dangerous chemistry together. Some scenes were absolutely scorching hot! The story in general had a lot of thrilling moments as well. There were some moments where I didn't think it would end happily, even. So the suspense was definitely on point.

Overall, Hostage by Annika Martin and Skye Warren was sexy, suspenseful and spellbinding. I would highly recommend it to fans of steamy romance, willfull heroines and alpha male heroes.

My heart beats out of my chest. I’ve risked everything, come out in the open, but it’s not enough. I stamp my foot to get his attention, crushing gravel beneath my mother’s Louboutins.

“The cops are coming,” I say.

The man stills and looks up. It’s a shock when it happens, even though I’ve been trying to get him to see me. His eyes seem to blaze into my chest, hot and bright.

Breathless, I back away.

He stands, leaving the man in a groaning, whimpering heap.

I retreat slowly, showing him my phone, as though that might protect me. “Cops are coming,” I say again. A lie. I couldn’t punch in the code.

He’s coming at me, expression unreadable. He’s a few years older than I am—late twenties, maybe.

My back hits something hard. The van.

He keeps coming. I try to spin and run, but he grabs my arm and slams me back into the van. “Where do you think you’re going, little girl?”

I stare up at him, panting.

His warm breath is a feather on my nose; the heat in his eyes invades me. He grabs my hair and tilts my head back, forcing me to stare into his face, as if he’s trying to read my eyes.

A moment later, he looks up at the night sky. He seems almost wolfish, and I’m conscious, suddenly, of my bare neck so close to his snarling mouth. I wonder if he’s staring at the moon. It’s like he’s going to howl or something.

Then I get it. He’s listening for sirens.

“You’re a little fucking liar.”

I liked Dark Mafia Prince for sure. Did I love it? No. It's not the most amazing book I've ever read but I still thought it had some great things in it.

So I won't say the story and writing in general was the best in this book... it wasn't bad either, though. It fell somewhere in the middle to me. But my favorite thing in the book were the characters, actually. I liked Mira but it were the brothers, Aleksio and Viktor that I loved. 

Especially Viktor was a favorite of mine. And I'm sure we'll actually get to meet the third and youngest brother at some point too. But yeah, Viktor was really interesting to me and I'm pretty sure the next book is going to be mainly about him. At least that's what I hope.

Now back to Mira. I really did like her. She wasn't some helpless female character but could actually stand her own. She and Aleksio had some great chemistry. And some of the scenes together with them were so fucking hot. I loved it! 

Overall, Dark Mafia Prince by Annika Martin sure was an entertaining read. It was told in different points of view, which I of course loved because it gave the story that much more. Especially where Viktor was concerned. Sorry, I'm obsessed with him. I can't wait for the next book!

So I hide behind my prim glasses and my book like I always do, because I have secrets too. Then he shows up in the prison writing class I have to teach, and he blows me away with his honesty. He tells me secrets in his stories, and it’s getting harder to hide mine. I shiver when he gets too close, with only the cuffs and the bars and the guards holding him back. At night I can’t stop thinking about him in his cell.

But that’s the thing about an animal in a cage—you never know when he’ll bite. He might use you to escape. He might even pull you into a forest and hold a hand over your mouth so you can’t call for the cops. He might make you come so hard, you can’t think.

And you might crave him more than your next breath.

I read this book because I had just finished three stories in a row by Annika Martin, which were awesome. And I was pretty curious how this story would turn out since it's also written by Skye Warren, who was a unknown author to me. Also, I'm a fan of dark erotica type stories and I did really enjoy prisoner. 

The start was a bit slow for me but once Abby gets taken hostage by Grayson things started getting really exciting. At first I didn't like Abby much, to be honest. I guess she was a little bit too timid, though she and Grayson had chemistry from the start. But she does change a lot throughout the story. To me it seems like she was hiding who she really was for so long and when Grayson came along she can finally be herself. 

Which brings us to Grayson. It's safe to say that I effin' love him. He walks the fine line of being redeemable and not being redeemable but I had wanted him to be a little more darker inside, if that makes sense. I really like it when characters have darkness inside of them, it makes them so much more interesting. But that didn't change the fact that his point of view was my favorite. Sorry, Abby, but I can't help myself. Grayson is bad. So bad. And he knows it!

Both characters have secrets. Secrets and memories they can't forget. Grayson wants revenge and Abby wants to give in to her desires, even though she knows she should try to get away from Grayson, which she does try a few times. And it always ends badly. I also should mention that I liked Grayson's "brothers". They're not all very nice but I'm just so intrigued by them. 

The writing was fast-paced and read pretty easily. So that's all possitive for me. I just hate it when a book has bad writing, luckily not the case with this one. Oh and the sex scenes were scorching hot. I loved it!

Hot, action-packed, intense and intriguing, Prisoner by Annika Martin and Skye Warren was a great read. I really liked it and it's probably one of my favorites in this genre. There will be a sequel right?! 
Highly recommended to anyone who loves these kind of books!

This series has been one of the most surprising books I've read this year so far. I really love these characters so much and the story is pretty damn great. I read the books all one after the other, it was so addicting! And I wonder, will there be more books? I do hope so!

The Deeper Game, the third book in the series kicked things up a notch when a stalker threatens to ruin everything Isis has build with the god pack. In the meanwhile Isis tries to convince her guys that they don't have to keep robbing banks but they are hell-bent on getting revenge. When Isis receives an intimidating letter, Zeus, Odin and Thor really show how fierce and even kind of scary they can be. Throw in a lot of kinky sex and you have one hell of a book!

So this book was really intense. Like REALLY! There isn't just the excitement of planning to rob a big bank but also the threat of Isis' stalker. While reading I could never guess who exactly it would be. I mean, it could've been anyone so I was a bit surprised by who it was and how screwed up and psycho he turned out to be. Isis as always was a great character. I genuinely like her because she's so funny, honestly loves her three guys and just wants them all to be a family. 

And what can I say about the guys that I haven't said before? I love them ALL! To be honest, I never quite read a book like this about bank robbers and never thought them as hot but damn, I changed my mind the moment I read the first book. Zeus, Odin and Thor are some of the most sexy male characters I have read about, no question there! They were fiercely protective of Isis and quite agressive in this book. I just adore them!

Overall, The Deeper Game was sizzling hot, with fantastic writing, a great plot and just awesome.  I had a blast reading it and it's one of my favorites now (as are the other books). So highly recommended!

I rated The Wrong Turn with one star less than the first book because I enjoyed it slightly less. It was if I'm not mistaken shorter than the previous one and I just didn't feel like a lot happened in this one.

Although I wanted more in this book, it was still greatly written, funny and kinky as hell. I felt like there was more spotlight on Thor. He was showing a bit of a dark side because he was not okay with being a criminal, since he's a doctor and everything. Isis definitely noticed that because his out of control behavior showed in the last book also. I'm glad Thor didn't self-destruct or anything like that. Thankfully the other guys said that they would find a way for Thor to be a real doctor again. Phew!

As for Isis. I still adore her. She's easy to like, completely trusts Zeus, Odin and Thor, which makes for very steamy scenes. Two words: Kilt sex.
I also like that in the end she sees they can't really go on like this forever and that she wants to find a way to help them. So we'll see what the next book brings. I feel like I can't say too much about Zeus and Odin. Sure, they were in it a lot but not much happened with them as it was more about Thor. 

Overall, I really liked The Wrong Turn. A little short and too hasty for me, so not as good as the first book, The Hostage Bargain but it only makes me want to read the next book even more. I still very much recommend this book (and series)!

The Hostage Bargain was a lot better than I expected from a free Kindle book. A whole lot better! I actually ended up loving the story as it was hot, well-written and just so damn funny. So close to perfection!

The main character, Melinda, is kind of hard to explain. But don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved her and she was hilarious. She's a sheep farmer and kind of addicted to danger because she feels trapped at home, forced to work at a bank. Until that bank gets robbed and she gets taken hostage by three hot bank robbers, much to her delight. At first I was like, what? This is so unrealistic but I soon started getting more into it and loving it, obviously. 

Which brings us to the bankrobbers, who call themselves Zeus, Odin and Thor. I can't explain how much I love that. Seriously! Anyway, they take Melinda hostage but she soon manages to convince them to let her tag along for a little while. There's a condition, though. She has to obey the rules. And let me say that the rules involve kinky sex, lots of it! I loved all three guys, but I guess I liked Odin the best. He and his accent are just so hot. Thor was pretty fun too. Zeus was a  bit on the fence about Melinda (who calls herself Isis now) joining them due to personal issues and what happened in the past but in the end he came around.

The book isn't all sex and kink, though. It also has a lot of action, danger and of course let's not forget the humor. I laughed my ass off so many times, usually with Melinda/Isis. She was awesome and so different from the characters I usually read about, as were Zeus, Odin and Thor. Only the ending was wrapped up too quickly for me and I felt so bad for Melinda's sisters. 

I would recommend not to take this book too serious. It's funny, playful and scorching hot! Sometimes you just need a book that's light and quick to read. The Hostage Bargain was the perfect book for that!
