The images that are evoked when one speaks of the Ottomans in the west is without fail Muslims in prayer, harems of exotic women, eunuch guards, lavish palaces and colourful fashions. All these things, without doubt, were indeed part and parcel of the Ottoman society and their royal court. Conversely, this is an extremely narrow view. Here we will dive into their world, their history, and their society. We do this to better understand the world’s last great old world empire. The rise and fall of the Ottoman juggernaut informs and influences the Middle East to this day.

I've always been very interested in The Ottoman Empire but it isn't something I know a whole lot about before I read this book. So this was super interesting for me to read. And I liked this book so much that I even read some of the chapters twice. That's something that doesn't happen a lot to me, actually. 

So obviously there was a bunch of stuff about this part of history that I didn't know like that the Ottoman Empire is among the longest reigning in history and The Ottomans financed the Protestant reformation in Europe in the 1500's in order to influence European politics. I loved learning that.

I also happen to have a favorite quote from this book. For some reason I just really liked the way this sentence was build up;

"Much like watching a building collapse in slow motion, the decline of the empire started with a few seemingly minor naval defeats at the hands of the rising Portuguese and Spanish empires in the 1500s, then evolved into a virus with a long incubation period – one that was about to infect the entire system of the Ottoman Empire."

Overall, The Ottoman Empire: From Beginning to End was obviously a great read. I learned so many things I didn't know about, which I loved. As always the book was written greatly and a very quick read. Definitely recommended!

How I love these books by Stephan Weaver! This is my fifth book by him and just like the other four, this one I enjoyed thoroughly.

This book is (obviously) about the gods of Ancient Egypt, which happens to be my favorite topic. As always I love reading and learning more about it.

The author first talks about the Egyptian gods in general and how they fit into the life of the ancient Egyptians. I thought it was very interesting to learn how a god's popularity varried from place to place in Ancient Egypt.

Next, the author talks about the gods individually. The main gods like Horus, Osiris, Set, Isis, etc were being discussed in detail and also some of the minor gods. Those were my favorite to read about because I didn't know much about them yet.

As always I'm really glad with the author's writing. The details, the information... it always hooks me and it's very well-written. I loved it!

This book provides a balanced and riveting account of the Viking age—from its dawn to dusk. Without white washing the savagery of the Vikings, it chronicles the many raids that were undertaken. It also presents another view point of these fascinating people. Employing the latest archeological finds and various sources, it paints a different yet factual picture of the Vikings. The book delves into the many cultural aspects of the society: religion—the Nordic gods—social structure, cloth, house and much besides.
Their celebrated ship architecture is discussed at length, myths are debunked, legends are deliberated—many facets of this epoch are dilated in detail.

I must admit that before this book I didn't know a lot about the Viking age but these last few years I've become more interested in it. I do know more about Norse mythology but it was nice to learn more about the invasions and the life of the vikings in general. 

As the previous books I've read by Stephan Weaver, this one also has a lot of striking detail and compelling information. The writing as always is also excellent. There were so many interesting things about the Viking age that I hadn't known before so I loved that. 

I also always enjoy the photographs in these books. So they give that little extra to the book. Another favorite aspect of mine was learning what the Vikings (both men, women and children) used to wear. There was also a list of male and female Viking names and some myths that were debunked. I especially loved those.

So if you want to learn more about this topic, Vikings: The Viking Age From Beginning To End by Stephan Weaver is the book you'll want to read for sure!

This is my third book by Stephan Weaver and I'm still love reading this nonfiction. This one was more about the mythology of the gods, pharaohs and Book of the Dead. All these things have always hugely intrigued me. And as always I love reading and learning more.

This book features all the main gods and goddesses with their stories told in short. I also really enjoyed reading about the pharaohs, especially Tutankhamun. Reading about the Book of the Dead has also always been something that I've loved. I also liked the quotes added from Zahi Hawass.

Just like the other books I've read by Stephan Weaver, I thought the writing with this book was excellent and specific. I  enjoy reading these books so much and they read very fast. I really can't enough.

Rich with fascinating information and details about ancient Egyptian life and mythology, Egyptian Mythology: Gods, Pharaohs and Book of the Dead of Egyptian Mythology by Stephan Weaver was another engaging read that I would highly recommend.

For as long as I can remember I've been intrigued by Ancient Egypt. I love watching movies, documentaries and of course read books about it like Ancient Egypt: From Beginning To End by Stephan Weaver. 

This e-book covers the beginning of Ancient Egypt to the end of it, with the old, middle and new kingdom in between. It also goes over all the pharaohs that have reigned over the dynasties. 
Ancient Egypt is my #1 favorite historical era to read about so of course I couldn't get enough of this book. It was so fascinating and really engrossing to read also.

I also really enjoyed the images that were added every now and then. It really does give the e-book a little something extra and visual for the eyes. 

And like with the book about Ancient Greece that I've read previously, I once again really enjoyed the bonus chapter with some facts about Ancient Egypt. It's all very informative and really interesting to learn more about! 

I'd definitely recommend this book to fellow history fans and especially for those who love Ancient Egypt as much as I do.

I absolutely devoured Ancient Greece: From Beginning To End by Stephan Weaver. It was very well-written and can be read in one sitting. I loved learning more about this topic, from the rise of ancient Greece to the fall of ancient Greece. 

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge fan of history. It has always intrigued me so much, especially ancient history. Ancient Greece has always been one of my favorite eras to read and learn more about. I just can't get enough. 

I really thought that this e-book was great. The writing was very good (this is a huge deal for me.) It's also a very quick read so I read it in no-time. I also learned quite a lot, which is always a bonus. I'm also very interested in the author's other books so I can't wait to read more by him.

I also feel like I should mention the bonus chapter that feautures ten little known fact about ancient Greece. I loved reading those because some of them were unfamiliar to me. It really was a fun addition to this e-book.
