~My Thoughts:

The ending of a series is not an easy thing for me, hell, I tend to avoid last books in a series as long as I can sometimes. However, I could not do this with Sentinel. Though I've only been reading this series since January 2013, I've come to love it so so much. I love the Greek mythology, the characters, the story and of course Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing makes it all super awesome. I will definitely miss this series. It was one hell of a ride!

First of all, I have to admit that I had a hard time liking the beginning of this book. It wasn't until after the first 70 pages that I actually started liking it. And yes I know why, that was when Seth finally came back into the book. I was so freaking happy to see him and where JLA decided to take his character. (and he gets his own series! *fangirling*) But before that? It was really going negative for me. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Alex? She was annoying the hell out of me. I'm not sure where this is coming from because I didn't feel this week in the other books. You can say it could have something to do with those two gods she had in her body and sorry for the tiny spoiler but what the heck... but even so with the two gods inside her which caused her to be a total negative Nancy, even after that she was a little annoying to me. And don't get me wrong, I still really like her. She's awesome and kickass and everything, I still felt like that. And as for Aiden? I never did really like him. I think he and Alex are pretty good together, but that's it. And I also didn't really care for all the make out scenes between them in this book. I was more fixated on all the action and the yummy gods (yes, Apollo, I'm talking about you!).

As for the story... it went in a total different direction that I thought it would. There were a few surprises that shocked me. But that's a good thing. I love the unexpected. Also, I read Origin right before reading this book and, well, JLA killed off a lot of characters there so of course I thought a bunch would die also in Sentinel but not many actually died. So I'm not sure to be happy about that or disappointed. Probably happy but still... kind of anticlimactic for me. Oh and there was also a cool new character, a titan no less! Perses. He was something. He was brutal and lusting after blood but also pretty freaking hilarious to read about. And of course Seth kind of liked him. It was all really funny to read about. As for the other characters like Deacon, Luke, Marcus, Apollo. They were all pretty awesome. Especially Apollo. I kind of have a thing for this character no matter what book it is. lol. Also a lot of other gods appeared in it, making me really happy to see them, like Athena, Artemis, Hades. Hades is something... 
Anyway... yes, I kind of disliked Alex and Aiden but it didn't make the story any less good. It was still kickass awesome, hilarious and entertaining to read and I'm glad to have read it.
And the ending? I'm still not sure how I feel about it but I tend to lean more towards disappointed. It wasn't what I expected and kind of weird. I had liked to see things work out differently for Alex, though what Seth did for her was amazing. Can you tell that Seth is my favorite character? Seriously, he was the best thing in this book. Him and Apollo both.
Also I wished the ending had also involved the other characters like Deacon, Luke, even Alex's dad. I wanted to know what they would say to Alex. But alas, it wasn't meant to be this way. And honestly? I still have too many questions to really like this ending.


I'm slightly disappointed with the ending but in general, Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout was pretty good. Not the best book or series ever by her but also not the worst. I definitely enjoyed this book more than the previous one and all in all it did work out good for almost everyone. And I'm so very excited to see Seth having his own series starting in 2015! Go Seth!

I really wanted to, because for him I'd do anything. Fight a horse of half-blood daimons? There. Tangle with ticked-off furies? Sign me up. Break a dozen or so rules for one forbidden kiss? Done. Open my eyes? Apparently that was asking too much.

Emotional state: 

I love this series. But then again is there anything by Jennifer L. Armentrout that I don't love? Doubtful! I saw a lot of awesome commentary of Apollyon, all five star reviews lined up a row. Also a lot of people told me how totally awesome it was. I was wondering how it could be more awesome than the previous book that was so full of awesome sauce, so I started this one as soon as I received it. It took me a little longer than usual to finish but now I am almost in a catatonic state because of that freaking ending. A classic JLA ending!

I must be crazy for saying this, but I kind of really liked Alex when she was connected to Seth and was all "Evil Alex". Seriously, she was so much fun. Only the bit where she was so devoted to Seth and was all going, "my Seth" freaked me out a bit. But anyways, that didn't last long at least. Still... it was entertaining to read about. When she got "unconnected" from Seth and broke down, I was glad she let her emotions out and that Aiden was there for her. It's like a normal person would react. I liked how JLA wrote it. I was almost crying with Alex. 
And Alex, she's like uber Alex now with her Apollyon powers. She's a force to be reckoned with, people! That's why I like her so much. She's snarky and sarcastic but she packjs some serious power too. And Aiden. Awww. How adorable is he? I liked him very much in this book which is a huge different to what I thought of him in the first book. When he's with Alex he seems much more happy and loose. Love it!

But I gotta say, after that things slowed down quite a bit. It was all going a little too slow for my liking. And that's also the reason, I think, that it took me longer than normal to finish. It wasn't until the last, say, 80 pages that things got really exciting again for me, personally. I also had a hard time rating this book because I couldn't decide whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. I decided on 4 because of the last few events in the book that were actually pretty darn good. Shocking but good.

One of my favorite things in this book were the side-characters. I mean Alex and Aiden were awesome and cute together like always but I feel the other characters stepped up a bit more than usual. Not sure if it's just me or if that was also so for other people but that's how I felt. I just love the dynamic of those 9 people all huddled together in the cabin and then when they went on the road together; Love 'em!
And as always some kick-ass god action! We see gods we a already know like Apollo (much much much love!) and the ever charming dionysus (ain't he something...) but also some gods we hadn't encountered yet. Persephone being one of them. Sorry for the spoiler but I really liked her. We also saw some more of a certain best friend in the underworld. He and Persephone were kinda hilarious. And then there's the god who is responsible for Seth. Jesus christ, he scared me a bit. Which brings us to Seth. I am so confused as to how I should feel about him. Sure, he creeps me out a little bit with the way he's addicted to the aether power and all that crap but, gods, I missed him. He wasn't in the book a lot. Only in Alex's mind really. I really hope he's going to kick a certain god's ass for hurting Alex. If he doesn't, I might jump in the book myself to kill him. No need for Alex do do it anymore. Seriously.
So, yeah, that ending... WOWZA! The last sentence, I swear it freaks me out so much. I am so scared for what's to come. Anything could happen at this point. Anyone could die...

Overall, Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout wasn't the best book in the Covenant series but it absolutely didn't lack in the action department. Throw a few unexpected twists and turns + some heartbreaking, emotional moments and you've got a pretty great 4 star read. 
I am so excited for the final book, Sentinel. It's going to be the best book so far, I just know it will be. Let the countdown begin...

I remembered all the little things. My Seth? Oh, yuck. I wanted to scrub out my brain with detergent.

I dropped down on the cushion beside Lea and picked up the book she'd been reading. Turning the book over, my brows flew up as I got an eyeful of the hottie on the cover. "Wait. Is this book about aliens?"
She snatched it back from me. "Yes."
"Really?"
"But they're hot aliens." She tapped on the guy's face with one thin finger. "And he can be my ET any day.”

A smug, satisfied grin stretched Apollo's lips. "I took Hermes' helmet, melted the mother down, and here you go. An invisibility charm just for you."
Apollo dropped the necklace into my palm. It was a reddish-gold color, and a crudely shaped wing was etched into it. "Ha," I said. "It's like Harry Potter and the invisibility cloak."
Everyone stared at me.

“Alex fainted—"
"I didn't faint," I grumbled, feeling my cheeks flush.
Aiden's lip curved up on one side. "Okay. She was suddenly not walking or talking anymore. During that time, she saw Seth. Apparently he used Hermes to pull her in."
"Hermes?" Apollo hissed—actually hissed like an angry lion. "That little, punk-ass bitch."
My brows rose.”

Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy freaking crap! I have no words for the awesomeness of this book. I have JUST finished it and I feel like screaming into a pillow. So much feelings inside me and not a way to get them out. 
After finishing the previous book, Pure, I had no idea I would feel this way after Deity or how hard this book was going to be on me. I have a total different perspective of how I feel about this series. I'm not quite sure if that perspective is for the better or not. Time will tell!

I must say I wasn't instantly hooked with Deity when I first started it. The first few parts where rather slow and I felt like crying because normally I love any books by Jennifer L. Armentrout right away. Now I feel like it was just build-up to the earth-shattering events that were going to take place. Oh yeah, earth-shattering indeed! 
But anyways... it wasn't until over the middle of this book that things started picking up. But that's just for me personally. Also it's the reason why I didn't rated it 5 stars. I just didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Pure. But I'm so over that with how it ended...

Alex is awesome! I wasn't so sure about her in the first book but she's become a favorite heroine of mine very fast. I need more characters in Young Adult books like her, STAT! You hear that, you authors of whiny characters that dare to call them heroines? More ass-kicking girls please!
I also feel like she has grown a lot. She's really not the same girl we met in Half-Blood anymore. She's still reckless but I feel like she's not AS reckless as she used to be. And I know she would sacrifice herself if it meant she could save people. And that's a big part of why I like her so much. 

The other characters were amazing too. Aiden. *sighs dreamily* Aiden St. Delphi. He has recaptured my heart. I wasn't his biggest fan. But god(s), I really like him now. I'm glad things finally picked up for him and Alex. Loved the romance. So perfect! Also I loved how at one point he was like, fuck it, we can do this. Only not in those words... :')
I loved how we saw more of Deacon, Aiden's brother too. He's so fun! Also love seeing him and Luke interacting together. 
oh and Apollo. Hello new favorite character! I loved the scene where Alex and Apollo play scrabble. So damn funny! And dude, I swear the character of Apollo is stalking me in books and on tv. Anyway... SO didn't see that one coming. But oh how I reveled in this rather huge thing that was revealed. Can't say too much about it because I don't want to spoil things for others. Just read the book and you'll know. 
Also another element that I loved so much were the gods. A couple of gods will show up in this one. I'm like, yes, finally, there they are! Just awesome! 

And then we have Seth. My poor Seth. *sad face* People who are Team Seth are going to feel like they're dying inside with this book. I am not kidding. I felt so awful inside for everything happened with him. People warned me I wasn't going to be Team Seth anymore but I just dismissed it. I had a bad feeling though that something awful was going to happen Right from the start I kind of knew Seth wasn't who I thought he was. But this...
I can't believe I'm going to say this but people were right. After everything, I don't love him anymore. My heart does go out for him. But I can't believe the things he did. He went batshit crazy in a totally psychotic way. I do home things will work out for him in the end. I wish there to be hope for him still.

At the end when everything went into chaos I kept turning page after page, gasping, not believing all of this was happening. And really, it wasn't just the end that was shocking. A lot of things happened in this book. It was like, shock here, betrayal there. On and on and on. And then the final end, I wanted to just curl up and die. It's one of the biggest cliffhangers I have EVER read. It's so damn shocking but yet I am awed by Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing talent. Woman knows how to write a heart-pounding, exiciting book, dammit!

Deity is one of the best Jennifer L. Armentrout books I have ever read. So exciting, so amazing. Though it was slow at the start, I came to love it and even think it to be one of the best Covenant books yet. Even with a cliffhanger that'll make you lose sleep over!
Full of action, forbidden romance, a witty heroine and smexy heroes. The Covenant series is the one you have got to read as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed in the least!

There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

~My thoughts: 


I've had Pure for a while now, sitting on my shelf, withering away, waiting for me to read it, after I'd finished Half-Blood which I really liked. I don't know what made me pick it up. Maybe because Apollyon is coming out soon and I want to be caught up with the whole series by then? Maybe I'm just in need of some awesome JLA books. Whatever it was, I'm so freaking happy (and kinda scared) that I did.
I've seen countless 5 star reviews of it on Goodsreads. I'm not kidding, pretty much the only reviews there are 5 stars, as it usually is with JLA's books. Only here and there the rare 3, 2 and 1 star review. I can't imagine what somebody thinks giving this book such a low rating but whatever. So far any of JLA's books have not yet disappointed me. I haven't read them all. Definitely not by far but I doubt there'll be one I'd hate. Anyhow... I'm getting off topic again. In one word this book was just awesome!

So much happened in this book, it's hard to get my thoughts together for this one. Alex is so strong in this book. No doubt about that. Although there were times when I wanted to slap her, especially when she was always staring at Aiden with this love sick puppy look. I don't have anything against Aiden. He's swoon-worthy and the zoo thing he did for Alex was pretty cute but even he knows that they can't be together. I was even sad for them when Aiden kind of broke things off with her in a cold way. But luckily Seth was there for Alex. Making me even love Seth more. Truly, Seth was probably the biggest reason for me to totally love this book. I can't express how much I love him. And he cares so much for Alex. Team Seth all the way!

There didn't seem to be too much action in this book, except at the end. Major battle. Though I reminded me of Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) I can't help myself but be reminded of it. Anyway, though not much action, I love it anyway.
And it was sad, so damn sad. Someone dies. Which was really obvious from book one that that person was going to die and yet my heart is still broken. 

Jennifer L. Armentrout did it once again! She knows how to capture the attention of her readers time and time again. Pure was heart-breaking but an awesome sequel to Half-Bloood nonetheless. I can't wait to read more!

Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

~My thoughts:


I'm a huge fan of JLA's Lux series so I knew I had to read this book also. I had heard a lot of great things about it so when I was finally able to get it, I read it right away, finished in 3 days because I just couldn't stop reading and was not disappointed at all!

I'm sure everyone has seen the similarity between Half-Blood and Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. Not everyone thinks it's so great that it's almost exact the same, only different names and a slightly different story. Like how Alex is Rose and Aiden is Dimitri. At first I found it weird. It was like re-reading Vampire Academy all over again. As lots of people know and I'm a huge Vampire Academy (and Bloodlines) addict. But I got over it pretty fast as I started getting into Half-Blood more and more. Even with the similarities Half-Blood is definitely different and has its own voice.

We meet our heroine Alexandra 'Alex' Andros who is a half-blood, when she's running for Daimons. Trying her best to fight them off, she gets rescued by the swoon-worthy pure-blood Aiden St. Delphi (who she used to have a crush on) and other Sentinels. Eventually she's brought back to the academy (sound familiar? Sorry, couldn't resist myself to say this!), where her uncle is now the dean. 
Of course Aiden suggests to train Alex, to help her get caught up for the begin of the new school year after the summer. Slowly Alex begins to have more and more feeling for Aiden until it's definitely more than a crush. One problem only though... Relationships between halfs and pures are forbidden! You would think that's Alex's only problem. It sure isn't. If she can't get caught up by the end of the summer she'll get sent to her awful stepfather and be turned into a mindless slave. On top of that she learns that her mother has changed into a daimon and that she's coming for Alex.

I can't remember the exact moment when I started really enjoying Half-Blood. I guess it caught me by surprise and sucked me into this awesome world. I'm sure lots of people know the awesome Daemon Black and have read the Lux series but this series is nothing like it. It's also really good but this one is more greek myth based which I adore! Anything mythical is right up in my alley. Love reading stuff like that. I especially like Armentrout's take on it. 

I love Alex! She's a kickass, punch first ask questions later, awesome character. She went through SO much and yet she stayed really strong. I admire that about her. I would've lost it a long time ago if I were her. Something else I also like about her is, she doesn't go all love sick puppy on Aiden and she is aware that is forbidden. Yeah, eventually she goes to 'hell with that!' but she sure handles it okay.

Aiden St. Delphi is hot! Now way around that. It's a fact. He's a Sentinel, so he knows how to fight and boy, is he good! Unlike other pure-bloods he doesn't look down on halfs. He treats them like equals. I love that about him.  Also he raised his brother when his parents got killed which was really amazing of him. Just all *swoon* But I gotta say he is not my all-time favorite guy from this book. Shock, right? More about that later!

Another character I loved was Caleb, Alex's best friend. He is awesome. I want him as a friend. There's no romance whatsoever in their relationship. Gotta love that for a change! The only thing I am worried is about is that prophecy from the oracle. Never good. I definitely have my theories about it.

And then there's Seth, who is the Apollyon. It's a big deal in this world apparently. And let me just say... *swoon, fangirl, drool and all of that* He's dangerous, mysterious and totally sexy. Now we've got that out of the way... I so love Seth! I love the way he annoys Alex and how Alex isn't impressed by him like the others are. And then big twist! Which I kinda had actually seen coming but it was nontheless fantastic. 
My favorite scene with him was at the end when he was in Alex's bedroom. I won't say anymore so I'll not spoil too much about this book but it made me laugh a lot and also 'awww' a lot. (and he totally reminded me about Adrian Ivashkov at that certain scene =$). I can't wait to read more about him and what all of this Appolyon stuff is going to turn into. All very exciting and kind of disturbing (not in a totally bad way) how it might turn out. 
I know most people prefer Aiden. I love him too but I can't help but be team Seth! ;)

Another character I should probably mention is Deacon, Aiden's little brother who is acting out with drinking and flirting. A lot of people compare him to Adrian Ivashkov (yes him again!) which I agree with to a certain point although I think the Adrian of this book could also be Seth. Sorry for all the VA references, but I can't help myself. I liked Deacon alright, I hope to see more of him in the next book(s).

The conclusion of Half-Blood wasn't at all like Vampire Academy (not the first book anyway) and had lots of fighting and asskicking. I loved it immensely and I found myself not giving a rats ass that it looks like VA because in the end it's just about what THIS story is about, these characters, the awesome writing of JLA and just the joy of a new journey in a new book. 

Was Half-Blood better than Obsidian? No. It takes a lot to top Daemon Black but it was good in its own mythical way. 
Overall I just love this world that Jennifer L. Armentrout has created and I can't wait to read more about it. I bet a lot of exciting things are yet to come!
