The lovely Zoey from Magiverse tagged anyone who hasn't done this book tag yet, so I decided to do it. Here we go... :D

1. Best Book You've Read So Far in 2017

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn ~ 5 stars {My Review}

This book was amazing. Beyond amazing, actually. Kate Quinn never disappoints but this book is something special. It's definitely her best work so far. Usually I'm more into historical books set in ancient times but this one is set in WWI and 1947 so it's different from my usual reads. Still, it's the best book I've read this year. I don't think any book will top it but I guess we'll see at the end of the year.

2. Best Sequel You've Read So Far in 2017

Scalding Ice and Goldfire by Avie Adams ~ 5 stars {My Review}

I can't get over how good this series is. SIAG was my favorite but all of the books are really great. They are all dark fantasy/romance and it does get quite dark but damn... it's such a unique world that the author has created. And the characters are all intriguing in their own way. Not to mention the writing. It's so gorgeous! I can't recommend it enough. 

3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

I have heard so many great things about this book. It's historical, set in the 1800's so it sounds perfect for me. I hope to get my hands on a copy soon. I have such high expectations for it!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo

I'm beyond excited for this book, you have no idea. I know this book will be so gorgeous inside and out. I'll need this book on my shelves no matter what. And just look at that cover! *grabby hands* 

5. Biggest disappointment

The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi ~ 2 stars

I'm probably in the minority about this one. I've read books that were worse so I didn't think it was all bad. The writing was gorgeous but I thought the story and the characters especially were lacking. I was just disappointed with it because I was sure I was going to love it. I am planning on reading A Crown of Wishes, though, because I heard it was better.

6. Biggest surprise

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern ~ 5 stars

Honestly, I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. But it ended up in my top three books of the year so far. It's such a gorgeous book. I already want to re-read it. <3

7. Favorite new author (debut or just new to you)

Amie O'Brien 

Not only did I love her amazing book The Merchant's Pearl, she's also a super nice person. I can't wait to read more books by her in the future. {My Review}

8. Newest fictional crush

Fox from The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco ~ 5 stars {My Review}

So for those who haven't read this book yet... (FOR SHAME IT'S SO AWESOME) Fox is Tea's older brother that she raised from his grave. I loved him so much. He was a big part of the reason why I enjoyed it so much. This book is also in my top three of favorite books of 2017 so far. 

9. Newest favorite character

Dak from A Mutiny in Time by James Dashner ~ 4 stars

This was a hard one. I've met so many great new characters that ended up being favorites so I'm leaving out a lot more. But I really loved Dak because just like me he's really into history and at times randomly tells historical facts even when nobody wants to hear it. He's so like me!

10. Book that made you cry

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas ~ 5 stars 

I didn't sob or anything with this book but at one moment I did get tears in my eyes because it got really sad. No spoilers but damn SJM, you hurt my heart!

11. Book that made you happy

Iron Man: The Gauntlet by Eoin Colfer ~ 4 stars

So for those who don't know it yet... Eoin Colfer is my #1 favorite author so I'm always dying for his next book. This one is his latest new one. It came out in November but I didn't actually get around to reading it until June. I don't even know why I waited so long. But anyway it turned out to be one awesome book and it just made me so happy. Also (I feel like) there were hints to his books Artemis Fowl and (especially) Airman. But maybe that was just me. Also, my review of this book is coming soon!

12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

This book was in FairyLoot's March box and oh isn't it so beautiful? I haven't read the book yet but I'm hoping to love it when I do.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Feversong by Karen Marie Moning

I don't even know why it's taking me so long to get around to reading these two books. Especially Feversong! But I'm hoping I can read them soon. :)

Gilmore Girls Book Tag ~ Part 2

In honor of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life me and Christina @ Booklover's Tea Party decided to post the Gilmore Girls Book Tag from Yvonne @ A World Between Folded Pages.

1. 1000 yellow daisies

- favorite romance -

Stephanie: I have countless favorite romances but the first one coming to mind is Beyond the Cut by Sarah Castille, a biker romance. The bikers in this series have stolen my heart, especially Cade. I have a paperback copy of this book because I was supposed to get the e-arc but the publisher messed it up by accident so none of us got it for the blog tour so they all send us a copy. 

Christina: Wait for you by Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn. Beautiful and sweet book. I love it and all the others that follow in that series.

2. Jess

- an unpopular opinion / most swoon-worthy book boyfriend -

Stephanie: I absolutely hate Patch from Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series. Needless to say I never finished the series and I never really liked any other books featuring angels. All because of Patch.

I have way too many swoon-worthy book boyfriends. I'll just name a few here. Adrian Ivashkov (Vampire Academy), Jericho Barrons (Fever series), Oliver Montrose (FREAKS series), Jamie Fraser (Outlander), Will Herondale (Infernal Devices), Ian O'Shea (The Host) and so on and on... 

Christina: My unpopular opinion is that I ship Logan and Rory. I love Jess, he is amazing. But well so is Logan and after everything I just see him and Rory together in the end.

But book wise… Guess I have to mention the Black Dagger brotherhood books. I feel like so many love them and praise them and everything, but I just don’t see it. I can barely get through one. Basically… I hate them.

Swoon Worthy book boyfriend. Just one? There’s Bones from Night Huntress, Jace from The Mortal Instruments and his ancestor Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices as well. Perry from Under the Never sky, Matthew from A discovery of witches (I feel like this is turning into a poem or something, lol). The Host has Ian, The hunger games has Peeta and also Finnick, more recently we have Rhysand in A court of mist and fury. The Forbidden Wish has ALADDIN! And with that amazing one we end this long list.

3. First snow

- snowy or holiday read -

Stephanie: Does Iced by Karen Marie Moning count as snowy? I think it does. lol

Christina: Let it Snow and The Bite Before Christmas. Especially Let it Snow is such a great holiday read, sweet and Christmassy stories.
Whereas The Bite Before Christmas is more part of a series, or two actually, so you have to know the characters for the best experience.

4. HEP Alien

- book centered around music -

Stephanie: Girl With Guitar by Caisey Quinn. These book center about country singer Kylie who's starting to make it in the music business and falls in love with superstar Trace Corbin. One of my favorite NA books.

Christina: Lick, Play and Lead by Kylie Scott. Each feature music and each focus on different bandmembers (and yes on purpose I did not mention the last one, cause wasn’t as good).  

5. He'd better have a motorcycle

- your book crush -

Stephanie: I could name all my swoon worthy book boyfriends but I'll just pick someone I haven't named yet. RHYSAND! 

Christina: Obviously there is many, but one that will always have a special place is Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices.  

6. It's repetitive and Redundant

- a book that could have been shorter -

Stephanie: A Game of Thrones maybe? I think it definitely works as long books with how detailed they are but it took me SO long to finished.

Christina: I have no answer. I really don’t know. I have long books sure, but none I felt that I wanted to be shorter.

7. Kirk

- the weirdest book you've ever read -

Stephanie: An Abduction Revelation by Thomas L. Hay - this book wasn't bad at all, it was just a bit weird.

Christina: The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. Porn star drunk drives, crashes suffering burns that cause him to lose his manhood and he has to stay in the burn unit. While there he gets visits from a woman telling him stories about their former life. I had to finish it just to see what happened. It wasn’t awful or anything, just very different and writing style wasn’t really me, but yeah I had to finish to see how that ended and where it went.

8. Sookie

- a character that makes you laugh -

Stephanie: Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments. There are many characters that make me laugh but Simon really is hilarious with the things he says. Also honorable mentions: Adrian Ivashkov (Vampire Academy and Bloodlines) and Kenji Kishimoto (Shatter Me trilogy)

Christina: Recently, Cassian from A Court of Mist & Fury. One of my all time favorites though is Ian from the Night Huntress series. He is hilarious! Think Simon from the Mortal Instruments came before him though so he definitely deserves a mention as well. He just gets better and better and still laugh when I think of him and Jace grocery shopping together.

9. It's a lifestyle. It's a religion

- one book that means more to you than any other -

Stephanie: Artemis Fowl and Airman by Eoin Colfer. Artemis Fowl is my favorite book ever and Airman just gives me so many feels! 

Christina: Actually a hard one, all my books mean something to me. But the Mortal Instruments books really brought me and my best friend closer way back then. We bonded over the love of these books and this world.

10. Rory

- a favorite character who is a bookworm -

Stephanie: Katy from the Lux series. She's even a blogger! And Mac from the Fever series likes books too so I have to mention her again. 

Christina: The first I encountered and one who is still my favorite is Katy from the LUX series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Great book and Katy is an awesome character, Reader and blogger.

Now we felt that someone was missing. Logan. Rory’s two other guys, Dean and Jess are there so only fair that Logan should be here, too. Plus we both love him.

11. Logan

- “Ace”. Favorite nickname for character –

Stephanie: My favorite nickname for a character is "Rainbow Girl" that Barrons calls Mac *at times* in the Fever series. I also love it when he calls her Ms. Lane but not sure if it counts as nickname since Lane is her last name. But I just think that Rainbow Girl is so precious for them. 

Christina: Can’t I go with Logan’s nickname for Rory? I love it so! I squealed when he called her Ace in the revival. However, definitely some to choose from in the book world. Matthew from All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness calls Diana “Mon Coeur” which is just French for my heart or something, but the way he uses that nickname to express his love to her by calling her that is just beautiful.

Answering "Would you rather" questions is always pretty fun to do, especially when it combines bookish questions like on this book tag. 

1. Rather read only a series or stand-alone books?

Series. I've always prefered series to standalones. I just don't like the finality of a standalone book. I always want more of the characters and the world of the book.


2. Rather read a book whose main character is male or female?

This is a tough one. I read more books whose main character is female but I also love reading about male main characters. So... both?


3. Rather shop only at Barnes & Noble (or other actual bookstore) or Amazon?

I love book shopping at actual bookstores but I prefer to get books online at Amazon or The Book Depository because the prices are much cheaper there and there's more choices of books.


4. Rather all books become movies or tv shows?

Tv shows for sure. I prefer tv shows to movies in general and I think for most books a tv show is better than a movie.


5. Rather read 5 pages per day or read 5 books per week?

5 books a week of course! If only that were possible...


6. Rather be a professional book reviewer or an author?

Book reviewer because I like reading and writing down what I think about those books a whole lot more than writing stories. I'll leave that to more skilled people.


7.  Rather only read the same 20 books over and over or get to read a new book every 6 months?

I think I'd go for read the same 20 books over and over because I wouldn't be able to only read one book ever 6 months. *shudders*


8. Rather be a librarian or own a book store?

Librarian. There's just something magical about libraries that you can't find at bookstores.


9. Rather only read your favorite genre or your favorite author?

Only read my favorite author, which is Eoin Colfer. 


10. Rather only read physical books or eBooks?

Oooh, that is such a hard question. I used to say I'd only read physical books but since I got my kindle a couple of years ago I've been quite addicted to e-books. So again... both.

The Pixar Book Tag

Toy Story — A book where you wanted the characters to come to life.

This is a pretty hard question because there are so many books where I want the characters to come to life. But I think I would pick the W.A.R.P. trilogy by Eoin Colfer. Riley and Chevie in particular. And Otto Malarkey, too, because I love him and he can introduce me to Conor Broekhart. It would be the most fun to hang out with Riley I think because he's from the Victorian era. 



A Bugs Life — A character who goes through a transformation.

Easy one! Mac from Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. And maybe Dani too. Oooh and Christian! There are obviously a lot of characters who go through a transformation in the Fever series but I think Mac, Dani and Christian change the most. 





Up — A book whose characters quickly made you become emotionally invested in.

Going with a recent read for this one. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas It's crazy how emotionally invested I am with the characters in this book. Like seriously...



Finding Nemo — “P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney” A book that has an address or quote that’s burned into your memory forever.

Going back to the Fever series with this one → '1247 LaRuhe' It is the address of the Lord Master a.k.a. Darroc, which is located in a Dark Zone in Dublin in the books.



The Incredibles — Coolest Book Family.

The Blackthorn family from Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I loooove the Blackthorn siblings. They're definitely one of the coolest book families out there.


Monsters Inc. — A strong character develops a soft side for someone.

At first I wanted to go with Barrons who develops a soft side for Mac but I've mentioned the Fever series twice already so I'm just gonna go with Holly Short from Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series who develops a soft side for well... Artemis Fowl. And vice versa too!






Cars 1, 2, 3 — A book that keeps getting sequels you feel are not needed.

The Selection series by Kiera Cass. I really dislike using the word hate but this series... Although I have only read the first three, I think it should've stopped after book #3. There is no other series that annoys me more. Just... ugh!




Ratatouille — A book featuring a non-human/humanoid.

The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series so it's no wonder I'm picking Cinder for this one!





Wall-E — A book that made you lonely.

Hmm... I don't want to say Airman by Eoin Colfer made me feel lonely exactly. I felt the main character's loneliness is more accurate, I think. This book is brilliant and one of the author's best book but it's also kind of sad at some points. Especially when Conor Broekhart is imprisoned.


Brave — Name a book with a strong mother/daughter relationship.

I'm kind of stuck with this question because there aren't many strong mother/daughter relationships in the books I have read. Kind of sad! But if I have to answer then I would say Clary and Jocelyn from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Clary goes through a lot to save her mother in that first book.





Inside Out — Name a book that could be one of your core memories.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I didn't even have to think about that one. This book means so freaking much to me. It's been my favorite book since I was 13/14 and I believe it will always be my favorite. ♥
