Rapid Fire Book Tag

Hey everyone! I hope you're all doing well. Today I have a book tag for you all. It's been a while since I did one so I thought today would be pretty perfect for it. I found it on The Bibliophile Girl. The original post is here. Definitely go check out her blog!

I'm not going to tag anyone specifically but if you feel like doing it consider yourself tagged.

E-Book Or Physical Book?

Physical book are my preference but I do read more e-books in general. And I gotta admit it's super easy to read e-books because I can take them everywhere with me and I don't have to haul any books that might be heavy. Physical books are much prettier to look at, though.

Paperback Or Hardback?

Hardback all the way! They might be more expensive or heavier than paperbacks but I'm also less likely to ruin a hardback than a paperback. It's happened more than I'd like to admit so if I can I buy the hardback.

Online Or In-Store Book Shopping?

I shop mostly online for books because it can be so much more expensive in a bookstore. I do like browsing bookstores, even when I'm not planning on buying anything book. It's just nice to walk around in them to see what books they have.

Trilogies Or Series?

This is actually the hardest question for me because I honestly don't care whether I read a trilogy or series. Is it a trilogy? Fine. Is it a series? Also fine. So both!

Heroes Or Villains?

Gotta love villains! I just think they're far more interesting than heroes. There's usually so many layers and backstory to them. Even if they're completely evil I tend to like them more.

A Book You Want Everyone To Read?

I'm going to go with my favorite book of the year so far — My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie. It's a novel about Eliza Schuyler Hamilton. {Review}

Recommend An Underrated Author?

Amie O'Brien. Last year I fell in love with her debut novel The Merchant's Pearl and I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel. I'm sure not a lot of readers actually know her but I'd highly recommend The Merchant's Pearl. {Review}
She's a wonderful writing and such a nice person as well. Learn more about Amie here

The Last Book You Finished?

The Other Wind by Ursula Le Guin. An amazing last book in an equally amazing series. Highly recommended!

Weirdest Thing You’ve Used As A Bookmark?

I don't think I haven't ever used anything weird as a bookmark because I own a million bookmarks and always have one near me.

Used Books: Yes Or No?

BIG YES! I visit used bookstores every now and then so have quite a few used books in my possession. I don't really care if the books I buy are used or brand new as long as they're not in tatters or anything. And they're usually cheaper to buy too. ;)

Top Three Favourite Genres?

Historical fiction, Nonfiction (as long as it has to do with history) and Fantasy.

Borrow Or Buy?

Buy is my preference. But I do borrow books every now and then if I see something I like at the library. Still, there's just something about owning the books you read and being able to put them on your bookshelf forever.

Character Or Plot?

Character for sure! Don't get me wrong, a good plot is nice as well but it doesn't mean a thing to me if I don't like the characters so I've always been more into character driven books.

Long Or Short Books?

I definitely prefer long books versus short books. But I'd rather not read anything that's a over a 1000 pages. That's a bit much to much, although I have read long books like that. It was quite the struggle.

Name The First Three Books You Think Of

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
Ecstasy by Mary Sharratt
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Books That Make You Laugh Or Cry?

Airman by Eoin Colfer are manages to make me sob like a baby. I've read this book so many times over the years every since the book came out around 2009 but it still grips me so hard. Everyone should read it. It's amazing!

Our World Or Fictional?

Fictional of course! I don't think anyone would choose our world when we can pick a fictional one. Especially if we could spend time with our favorite characters.

Audiobooks: Yes Or No?

Yes. But I've only gotten more into audiobooks this year. I only listen to an audiobook when I'm walking my dog or am taken public transportation because I get motion sick so I can't read in a moving vehicle. Especially in the last few months I've listened to a lot more audiobooks so now I like them a lot.

Do You Ever Judge A Book By Its Cover?

I'd like to say no but I do tend to judge a book by its cover. I mean, it's the first thing you notice when you see a book and I'm less likely to pick it up when the cover isn't nice to look at.

Book To Movie Or Book To TV?

Definitely book to TV. There have been good book to movie adaptions but with book to TV adaptations there's definitely more than you can get out of than with one movie of two hours. TV series can go on for YEARS.

A Movie Or TV Show That You Preferred To The Book?

Howl's Moving Castle. Don't get me wrong because I love the book so much. It's one of my favorite books ever but I think I prefer the movie a little bit more. The book and movie are quite different though so that's probably one of the reasons why. And I just love Studio Ghibli films so much!

Series Or Standalones?

SERIES SERIES SERIES SERIES! There are several standalones that I have enjoyed but I'm always left wanting so much more. Sigh...

Let me know in the comments one answer to any of these questions. I'd love to learn more about you all and see if any of my answers match yours. ♥

  1. I read more ebooks because I get e-ARCs more than I read physical ARCs.

I'm a chatacter-driven reader too! I don't mind if the plot is slow-moving if I can enjoy the characters.

Good for you using your bookmarks. I've used money as a bookmark once. Haha!

It has been so long since I have done a book tag and I think that I will have to give this one a try soon. I found myself nodding my head to so many of your responses! Now I am feeling the urge to hit up a few used book stores. lol

  3. Fun tag! I haven't been to a used bookstore in years (there's not one near me), but I would totally go to one again. Our library does a big book sale a couple times a year, so I'm hoping to find some good deals there!

  4. I'm going to a secondhand store tomorrow actually. They're supposed to have books but it's the first time I'll be going there so I'm not sure. But they're fun. I love finding cheap books. It's so good for my wallet! lol

  5. I feel like most would are more into plot than characters but if I don't like the characters I most likely will not enjoy the book. *shrugs*

  6. Paperbacks! I can fit more on my shelves and they're not as heavy. I've only recently gotten into audiobooks this past year (it's easier with small children). I fold my corners down, so no bookmarks are needed... and I love buying used books online and in person. My local library sells books they remove from their shelves (if there's too many of one book, or one is replaced, etc.), and they only charge like twenty-five cents. They have the library's stamp on them, and they're covered in the plastic coating, but I don't care! IT WAS $.25! Lol.

  7. This is fun! I totally judge a book by it's cover too, and these days the wrong tagline just annoys me so. Also, hell yeah, villains rule!

  8. I can't believe I didn't like audiobooks before this year but I just finished my 11th of 2018 earlier. Still prefer physical copies more but it's easy to listen to them while I'm doing stuff. :D

  9. I don't think there are many people who don't judge a book by its cover. It's the first thing you see when you come across a book so yeah. :P
