Waiting On Wednesday: The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I'm eagerly anticipating.

The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer
November 15th 2016 by Little, Brown and Company

In this gripping page-turner, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.

She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.

Now, she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

When her former handler offers her a way out, she realizes it's her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous.

Resolving to meet the threat head on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life, but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.

In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialized skill set. And she shows once again why she's one of the world's bestselling authors.

I would've prefered a sequel to The Host (though that is probably never going to happen...) but I'm still pretty excited for The Chemist because it's another adult book by Stephenie Meyer + it's a thriller. Fingers crossed that it's gonna be a good one!

What book are you waiting for?

  1. I AM BEYOND EXCITED TO READ THIS BOOK!!!! :D And yes, I would also prefer for her to write the sequel for The Host because I miss Wanda and Ian and Jared and Melanie, I miss the gang! But I will still gladly read this book because I miss the feeling of reading a new book by the queen of YA (because let's be honest, YA wouldn't be this popular, if not for Twilight).

  6. It's been *ages* since me - and the entire world - have read anything by Stephenie Meyer.
I used to adore Twilight, reading it again and again and again when I was younger. I don't know if I would have loved these book as much as I am today but there is no denying they were a huge part of what shaped me as a reader.
I honestly thought we would never hear from Stephenie Meyer again when... The Chemist was announced out of nowhere!
And despite the long time that passed, I found myself getting really excited :D
I'm so looking forward to picking it up. And I desperatly hope we'll love it (:
