Waiting On Wednesday: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

~Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare
Hardcover, 592 pages
Expected publication: March 19th 2013 by Margaret K. McElderry Books
Danger intensifies for the Shadowhunters as the New York Times bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy comes to a close.

If the only way to save the world was to destroy what you loved most, would you do it?

The clock is ticking. Everyone must choose.

Passion. Power. Secrets. Enchantment.

Danger closes in around the Shadowhunters in the final installment of the bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy.

I'm sure that this book is on a lot of people's most anticipated book of 2013 lists and with me it's no different. The Infernal Devices is one of my all-time favorite series and definitely my favorite from Cassandra Clare. I am so freaking scared for this conclusion but very excited!

How will Kale save Ella, keep Alex and Mia safe, control Jace as well as control the Bloodlust that creeps beneath the surface waiting to be released? Will Kale be Ella’s savior or will he convict her to a fate worse than the one Laurent has already promised her?

What truths will she learn?

Ella knows that the choices she makes affects not only her but everyone else around her, but what about the choices made to find her? Ella learns the truth about the death of her parents, learns that the ones she thought she could trust aren’t so trustworthy after all. How will Ella handle these betrayals, and will she be able to sacrifice what is necessary to obtain eternal life?

~My thoughts:

After reading the first book, Few Are Angels, I knew I had found something amazing, and now after finishing Awakened I'm even more excited about this series!

Receiving this book early had me dying to start it because I've been so excited ever since I finished Few Are Angels. I just couldn't wait to find out how this story was going to continue and what was going to happen to all the characters I've come to care for.

Awakened started out with a prologue. I love prologues, especially if they go way back and to start with such a great one was just awesome to me. That was the moment I was hooked. When we get to the present time Ella is missing. Kale, Jace, Alex and Mia are trying to come up with a plan to get her back, which isn't all that easy to do. In the meantime Ella is finding out that not everyone is who they seem to be...

Right from page one, I had a hard time stopping to read, even if it was in the middle of the night, because the story drew me in right away. I wanted to know where Ella was so I didn't stop reading until she appeared again.
The writing was really good. Fast-paced, witty, and sometimes heartbreaking. Just amazing, really.
I read Awakened in two days, which is really fast for me. I should've read slower but there just wasn't a way I could stop reading when I really got into it.
This book has multiple point of views. Sometimes it works for a book and sometimes it really doesn't because it could get confusing but that wasn't the case with Awakened. I LOVED reading not only about Ella but also about what the others in the meantime were doing. I can't say I had one favorite point of view that stuck out because they were all equally interesting to read.

New characters! Ah, how I love it when new characters are introduced. And I loved them all! Darke, Ana (though I am not sure if I like her anymore now...), Deacon, Tamsin, Servitto, Zed... but of course they didn't beat the familiar characters like Kale, Jace, Mia, Alex, Ella and of course Laurent (who's just so deliciously evil and manipulative).
There isn't that much romance in this book but the bit of it we got was so sweet and sexy. Kale is just sexy. I love him and I hope that he beats his struggle with la Luxure.
Another thing I loved was finding out more about this world full of immortals and Chorý.
And then there were also a lot of unexpected twist that were so nerve-wracking and just torturous... like what happened with Alex. Damn, I'm so scared for him! :s I freaked out so bad! But it wouldn't be as awesome if there weren't any twists like that. And that's why I love this story so much. You never know what's going to happen.

To say that I am excited for the next installment is an understatement. With everything that happened, especially on the end, *it was craaazy!*, I'll be for sure highly anticipating it.

Awakened is the perfect sequel to Few Are Angels. Not only did I read it in record time, I was sad to have it ended so soon. Fast-paced, funny, exciting and just plain wonderful, this book will leave you wanting so much more once in the end. I know it did for me.

~Favorite Quotes:

The cool drizzle kisses my skin in a sweet contrast to the affectionate warmth from the sun, pushing me into a trance while I await his return.
“We know that something isn't right with you and Jace. You're both too strong, too fast, and Kale—dude, you keep sniffing the wind like a lost puppy that can turn into a Rottweiler at the first sign of trouble.”

~Blood Prophecy (Drake Chronicles #6) by Alyxandra Harvey
Paperback, 496 pages
Published January 8th 2013 by Walker Childrens

Solange Drake has been officially crowned Queen of the Vampires, fulfilling the centuries old prophecy that foretold the rise to power of a daughter born to an ancient vampire line. Except Solange's thoughts and actions are no longer her own-she's been slowly being possessed by the spirit of Viola, the first daughter born into the Drake line, since her bloodchange. And instead of uniting the vampire tribes under the rule of an ancient daughter as the prophecy predicted, Viola would rather destroy them all and enslave humans in a personal vendetta for the devastation both wrought to her life centuries ago. Can Solange break her hold in time to save everyone she loves from a vampire civil war, hunter attack, and each other? Not everyone will survive the prophecy . . . perhaps not even her.

Feature & Follow #20

Feature & Follow is a weekly meme hosted on friday by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read to gain new followers and make new friends!

Q: What is the first thing you would do if you woke up to find yourself in your favorite book? via @GizmosReviews

~A; Well, it depends... If I wake up in my ALL-TIME favorite book then I'd probably freak out a bit because it's The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I'm not sure how I would survive in a world with Souls, you know. Would I be a Soul? Would I be a human on the run? Would I be a Host, trapped inside a Soul or *gulp* would I fade away completely? But let's say I'm a human, then I'd would prefer to be at Jeb's caves and the first thing I would do is run to Ian and just hug and kiss him! ^_^
