Prophecy of Solstice's End

Oracle of Delphi #3

By Diantha Jones

BLURB:  Summer Solstice is here. Let the games begin. Nothing but lies (some of them her own) and deceit have brought Chloe to Olympus for the Solstice Olympic Games. As the Oracle and the special guest of the King of Myth, Chloe becomes immersed in a life of unfathomable luxury, taunting history, and overwhelming excitement. Though scheming and untrustworthy, the gods remain on their best behavior as the tension and anticipation builds around the outcome of the Quest of the Twelve Labors, the deadliest competition of the Games. All seems well on the celestial front...until athletes start turning up dead and a philosopher missing for months returns with a most terrifying story... But that’s not all. As Strafford confronts his troubled past and more is learned about the Great Unknown Prophecy, Chloe grows close to another, setting off a chain of events that will bring her face-to-face with a truth that will rock both of her worlds to their core. And it’ll all happen before Solstice’s end...

For fans of the Oracle of Delphi series…and for those who aren’t…

Born into one of the wealthiest families in Ireland, Siobhan Law has status, privilege, and a secret: The Greek gods of Olympus and their kingdom in the clouds are real, and her family acts as one of their agents on Earth.

When the beautiful immortal celeste Liam Argyros shows up claiming to have come to Earth to deal in the affairs of the divine, Siobhan finds herself unable to resist his charms. New to the game of passion and seduction, she quickly ends up in over her head, sinking deeper with every attempt Liam makes to win her over.

But Liam’s divine mission is far more complex than she ever imagined and nothing is truly as it seems. Because Liam has a secret of his own: He is Apollo, Olympian god of the Sun, and his mission will never be complete until he has claimed Siobhan’s heart forever.

WARNING: For readers 18+ only. Contains adult language and sexual situations.

Excerpt:

“Your ass looks fantastic wrapped in black.”
I fumbled the book in my hand and pivoted to find Apollo perched on the corner of the desk across the library as those blazing blue eyes of his stared me down. He looked delicious dressed in true divine garb–a black leather cuirass, leather trousers and boots–and biting the inside of my cheek was all I could do to keep myself from drooling. His displayed muscles were olive and toned and I wanted to touch and grab and run my hands all over them. But I stayed right where I was. I didn’t trust myself to stop at touching.
“My lord,” I breathed, now clutching the book to my chest. I ran a hand over my black skirt. “Wha’ are you doing here?”
“You have to ask?” his ancient voice rumbled as his eyes ran over the entire length of my body.
“How did you get in?”
A sexy, black eyebrow raised.
“I mean, how did you get in without me knowin’? I didn’ see a flash. Why do you flash sometimes and other times not?”
Apollo waved his hand in the direction of the doors and I heard the lock click into place. He stood and began to slowly prowl toward me. “Gods flash because we’re vain and we like to make an entrance. But we don’t have to. We don’t have to do anything we don’t want to do.”
Suddenly, he was right in front of me. I almost screamed.
“Don’t do tha’!” I said, sucking in a deep breath as Apollo pried the book from my hands.

Review: Hero, Cursed by Diantha Jones

Title: Hero, Cursed
Author: Diantha Jones
Series: Mythos #2; Oracle of Delphi #3.5
Publication: August 17th 2014
Genre: Young Adult ~ Greek Mythology
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Cover Rating: 5/5
Overall Rating: 5/5

Before he knew the Oracle.
Before he knew the Quad.
Before the Great Unknown threatened his world.
He was a hero, cursed forever.

Shunned by a family that doesn't understand him, demigod Lenka Tahile aka "Swindle" is a complete loner and he likes it that way. Then he meets the hero, Ace Remedy, the brother of an infamous demigod Prince, and his life goes from bad to worse. Ace is loud, rude, and disruptive to his peaceful existence in every way. He's also hilarious and daring, and Swindle ends up finding a friend just when he thought he'd never have another.

But little does he know, becoming friends with Ace was all part of the Fates' plan. Now his past is slowly coming back to haunt him and there's nothing he can do to stop it. Nothing but try not to bring to light the lost love, the failed hopes, and the cursed existence that he would kill to keep in the dark.

I was not chosen. I was cursed.

Diantha Jones really surprised me with Hero, Cursed — This is Swindle like you've never seen him before.

I can't express enough how much I love these Mythos books. It gives us insight into the characters and let's us get to know them better and understand where they're coming from. I think this is especially good with Swindle because he's one of my favorite characters and there has been so much mystery surrounding him.

I loved seeing Swindle's past and how his curse started. I couldn't have been more surprised by his involvement with Jason and the Argonauts. I think my exact reaction was: "Jason?! *jaw drops*" Yeah, that sounds about right. I must say that I really feel bad for everything Swindle went through, with the curse, losing his mother over and over again. And of course Apollo has to make everything so much harder for him. Poor Swindle!

There are some characters that we know from the Oracle of Delphi books making an appearance. Of course there's Ace — I always enjoy reading about him. I love his and Swindle's bromance. They're so much fun together. I was thrilled to see Strafford coming in too, sort of... It totally was a mind fuck. Thanks for that, Diantha. And Apollo, naturally, was being a pain in Swindle's ass. There were more familiar characters but I'll just let you discover it on your own.

So overall, another fantastic book by Diantha Jones with awesome action, great writing and an ending that made me scream inside. Hero, Cursed was just as amazing as I was hoping it would be. Lenka "Swindle" Tahile is definitely one of the more intriguing characters in the Oracle of Delphi and Mythos books. I loved this story about him and as always I can't get enough of this world. More, please!

Cover Reveal: Prophecy of the Most Beautiful by Diantha Jones

I'm so very glad to be a part of this cover reveal of the newly redesigned cover for Prophecy of the Most Beautiful by Diantha Jones!
I love this book and the cover is really gorgeous! <3

Prophecy of the Most Beautiful by Diantha Jones
(Oracle of Delphi #1)
Publication date: March 1st 2012
Genres: Fantasy, Mythology, Young Adult

She has a destiny so great that even the gods fear her.

Constant hallucinations and the frequent conversations with the voices in her head, have earned eighteen-year-old Chloe Clever the not-so-coveted title of “Whack Job” in her home town of Adel, Georgia. With the onslaught of prescription medications and therapists threatening to push her over the edge, she wishes for a life far away from the one she has, a life where she is destined to be more than the butt of everyone’s jokes and mockery.

Be careful what you wish for has never rung more true.

After living through an attack from her worst nightmare, she awakens to find herself far from home, surrounded by glorious riches and servants…and a few demigods who enjoy killing things. Upon learning that her favorite rockstar is an Olympian god, she is thrust into her new life as the Oracle of Delphi, the prophesier of the future, and the great Pythia that the gods have been anxiously awaiting to arrive for centuries. Setting out to fulfill the prophecy she has been given and to keep her family safe from a demigod Princess that wants her dead, Chloe learns of how great she is to become, all the while fighting mythical monsters, evading divine assassins and trying to outwit the ever-cunning Greek gods who harbor secrets of their own. In the hopes of discovering the Most Beautiful and the truth of her destiny, she strives to uncover the mysteries of the demigod Prince who has sworn to protect her with his life…and threatens to win her heart in the process.

Diantha was born on Thanksgiving Day so that explains why her mother calls her a "turkey." She spent the first 16 years of her life as an official Army brat (now she's a retired one), and has spent the last twelve years living in Georgia (Atlanta, then Savannah). She now resides in Washington D.C. She loves to read and watch movies (Quentin Tarantino is her fave director), and she loves cold weather and french fries (with cheese if possible).

Contains MAJOR spoilers!

Nothing but try not to bring to light the lost love, the failed hopes, and the cursed existence that he would kill to keep in the dark.

Five Facts about Hero, Cursed

1. Lenka Tahile is a South African name. The MC was born in South Africa.

2. "Swindle" is Lenka's celestial name. He is a son of Hermes. Figure it out.

3. The hawk on the cover is not a tattoo. His name is Bill and he's Swindle's Fauna Morph, an animal that morphs into a weapon on command.

4. Though it isn't showcased on the cover, Swindle has extremely curly hair. Out of control, I tell you.

5. Just like Solar, Defeated, this novella switches back and forth between the present and the past, and reveals what life was like for Swindle before the Oracle of Delphi came along.

Summer Solstice is here.

~My Thoughts:

Prophecy of Solstice's End is the third book already in the Oracle of Delphi series and I must say that although it took me a whole week to read it, this is my favorite book so far. I might say that about every book in the series but Diantha's book just keep getting better and better with each one.

This book mostly centers in Olympus when Chloe goes there for the Solstice Olympic Games as Zeus' guest. Yes, it's just as exciting as it sounds and Olympus is just as amazing as I thought it would be. While Chloe gets preoccupied with her role as the Oracle and starts to really grasp what it means, Strafford is on his own quest, participating in the dangerous Twelve Labors. Between all of this, the Quad is falling apart, everyone is devided and Chloe learns more about herself.

Prophecy of Solstice End definitely felt more different than the other books. I don't mean that in a bad way at all because I loved this book. I couldn't get enough of it. It was so exciting with a lot of unexpected twists that gave me mini heart attacks and left me shocked, not knowing what to do with myself. That ending... damn, Diantha, why do you keep torturing us like this? And yet I devoured and loved every plot twists like they were chocolate cookies. Can't help but be amazing at how Diantha can still shock us with these unexpected events and her amazing writing after two books. But, yes, it felt very different. Things are absolutely kicked up a notch.

I love the gods, did I mention that before? Well, they are seriously awesome though some of them have evil plans. They are definitely entertaining to read about. And since this book is set in Olympus they are ALL there. Zeus, Hera, Apollo, Hermes, Aphrodite, and so on and on... Gotta love it.
All the other characters are more on their own in PoSE. The Quad is kind of falling apart and it doesn't help that Chloe is growing really close to someone that is not Strafford. Dum, dum, duuuum... Who, you ask? Read the book and you'll know! ;)
I still love Chloe though. She's never been more badass (I think it's Strafford's influence. lol). She's also getting more into her role as Oracle, giving Kismet to Heroes and even getting a philosopher of her very own!
Strafford as always was swoon-worthy and amazing. Especially in his Quest of the Twelve Labours. I really enjoyed reading those scenes. Diantha kicks ass at writing action scenes and they're still my favorite together will the romantic scenes which are also amazing I might add. Chloe and Strafford's connection gives off fireworks even when they're fighting and things definitely get a little steamy every now and then.
As for the rest of the Quad. I was so sad a lot of times for how they weren't all as close as they were, though in the end it's definitely better. Thank goodness...
Still, a lot of stuff happens and not always good things. Be prepared, people!

Overall, Prophecy of Solstice's End by Diantha Jones was another sensational book in my favorite Greek Mythology series. Full of intrigue, unexpected twists, shocking events and a gasp-for-breath ending, it's the most exciting Oracle of Delphi book so far. And I can't wait to find out what else is in store for our heroes and the Oracle of Delphi!

~Favorite Quotes:
The Gemini actually seemed to be controlling the creature and Strafford felt a ping of envy. He didn't like being shown up by someone whose eyes were on nonstop twinkle duty.
"You know exactly why I love you," she said, frowning.
"I guess. It's 'cause I'm so handsome and charmin' tha' you honestly can't help yourself, right?"
She giggled and yanked on a lock of his black hair. "Right, Your High-Jerk."
She glared up at him. "One word and I'll kick you off this ledge, leprechaun."
He barked a laugh. "Was tha' an Irish dig on me, Red?"
"Pretty much."
"Time is not the same here. Every divine hour, or minuta, is measured by a sign of the Zodiac. A horae is actually a twelve-hour period, instead of one. Don't ask me why the gods did things the stupid way."
