Blog Tour ~ Review: Dream of Me by A. Star + Giveaway (INT)

Title: Dream of me
Author: A. Star
Series: The Djinn Order #2
Publication: January 19th 2016

Genre: Adult ~ Fantasy ~ Romance ~ Steampunk
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo
Rating: 5/5

Glory St. Pierre never thought so many lies could hold so much truth, especially when her entire life has been one of those lies. Now that she knows who she really is, she must find a way to come to terms with it before the Djinn sorcerer Rasputin and his steel army descend down upon the human and Djinn realms, wielding magic so dark even her own Djinn lover, Irving, is wary of it.

Their only hope to save the realms are a couple of hunters and the Lords of the Djinn Order, four powerful Djinn who have remained elusive for centuries. Armed with her only granted wish, a fabulous airship, and the Djinn she loves by her side, Glory will embark on a quest to find the four lords and enlist their help. But there is a reason the lords have been in hiding, and once this tiny band of adventurers awakens them from their slumber, they will set off a chain of events that has been in the making since the beginning of time.

There is no turning back now.

Oh my god! Dream of Me was freaking awesome! Of course I wasn't expecting anything less but I'm still amazed at the turn this book took. I loved it and finished in pretty much one sitting!

In this book, Glory is still trying to come to terms with everything she discovered in the first book, with herself being the daughter of Rasputin and her mother being a fierce Djinn hunter and everything else in between. To stop Rasputin she, Irving, her mother and aunt are going on a quest to find the Lord of the Djinn order, their only hope to save everyone.

Glory is still her feisty self, only she now knows who she really is. She still hasn't forgiven her family for keeping such a huge secret from her. I think Glory is a fantastic character but sometimes I wanted to smack some sense into her because of the decisions she made, although at the time she didn't knew they'd turn out bad. She also had some issues defining her relationship with Irving, which has its ups and down. I still love them to bits and pieces together, though.

And Irving? What can I say about him that isn't obvious already. I love his devotion to Glory and his need to protect her, but also his kingdom. He's one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. I adore him.

Some parts of this book really blew my mind. Especially the end. I really didn't see that one coming. The author, A. Star, really has a knack with writing surprising twists that make me exclaim out loud. Seriously. I also still love the steampunk aspect. It's all pretty genius and wonderful world-building.

Overal, Dream of Me by A. Star was amazing! Even more so than the first book, in my opinion. I'm also really excited for the next instalment in the series, with the way things ending. I can't wait!

Blog Tour ~ Review: Sin & Suffer by Pepper Winters + Giveaway

Title Sin & Suffer
Author: Pepper Winters
Series: Pure Corruption MC #2
Publication: January 26th 2016 by Forever

Genre: Adult ~ Contemporary Romance
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

Rating: 4/5

"Some say the past is in the past. That vengeance will hurt both innocent and guilty. I never believed those lies. Once my lust for revenge is sated, I'll say goodbye to hatred. I'll find a new beginning."

She came from a past Arthur "Kill" Killian never forgot. She made him sin and made him suffer. She tugged him from the shadows and showed him he wasn't as dead as he thought. And with her resurrection came betrayal, deceit, and war.

But then they took her. Stole her. Imprisoned her.

Now Kill's carefully laid plans for vengeance are complete. He craves action, retribution-the blood of his enemies. War has begun. War is all they'll know until they've paid their penance. He will get her back-and rewrite their destiny...

To be honest, I had a hard time remembering what had happened in the first book so it took me a little while to get my thoughts straight when I started reading Sin & Suffer. Luckily it didn't take me long to get back into the book.

The story isn't just about Kill's revenge anymore. Sure, getting revenge on his father and brother is part of it, but in the end his plan is much bigger. I think with this book I truly fell for Kill. I also liked Cleo much more, which was one of the reasons I wasn't a fan of the previous book. I, especially, loved them together as a couple. Although, still having a few issues, they were pretty solid and pretty much perfection.

The author's writing as always was flawless. I swear, with every book I'm more and more in awe with it. She writes beautifully. She also writes some damn hot scenes. The way she writes Kill can make any woman's knees weak and wish she could be Cleo.

I thought the story was greatly ended, everything fit perfectly. Sometimes I think ending can be a little too drawn out but with the end in this book I actually wanted more. The secondary characters were also awesome to read about. I really liked Grasshopper and love to learn more about him someday.

Ruin & Rule was yet another winner for Pepper Winters. I liked the first book, but it wasn't my favorite from this author. This one, whoever, was really good. I loved it and the things I disliked in the first book turned around and I actually started liking those certain things and characters. I couldn't have asked for more than that! I already miss the characters.

Waiting On Wednesday: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that I'm eagerly anticipating.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses #2
May 3rd 2016 by Bloomsbury Childrens Books

Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court--but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms--and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future--and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.

I very unexpectedly loved the first book so of course I can't wait for this sequel. I especially want to read more about Rhysand! ♥

Blog Tour ~ Review: Killer Pursuit by Jeff Gunhus + Giveaway (INT)

Title: Killer Pursuit
Author: Jeff Gunhus
Publication: January 10th 2016 by Seven Guns Press

Genre: Adult ~ Thriller
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository
Rating: 4/5

This review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

When a high-society call girl is murdered in her Georgetown home, investigators find two cameras hidden in the walls of her bedroom. One has its memory erased, presumably by the murderer. The second is connected to the Internet through an encrypted connection...and no-one knows who's on the other end.

Special Agent Allison McNeil is asked by beleaguered FBI Director Clarence Mason to run an off-the-record investigation of the murder. The most direct path to apprehending the killer is to find the videos, but with rumors that the victim's client list may have included Mason's political enemies, Allison worries about the director's motives. As she starts her investigation, she quickly discovers that she's not the only one pursuing the videos. In fact, the most aggressive person racing against her might be the murderer himself.

Killer Pursuit was so damn good! The start was a little slow for me but once I got through the first few chapters, it was hard to stop reading. Also, this isn't a genre I usually read but I was really into the story and pretty much wanted to savor it.

I loved the main character, Allison McNeil. I really did. She's one of those characters I would never ever get sick of reading about. I also enjoyed reading about all the other characters and how they were connected to the story.

This book is a thriller but also a mystery that I wanted to solve for myself. I wanted to know who was behind the murder but it was a big surprised to find out who it was in the end. I actually liked this person so it blew my mind but that's a sign of a very good book!

The writing also was excellent. It was well-written and the author made sure there was enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat.
I feel like I don't have a lot more to add, because I really don't have anything negative to say aside from the slow start.

I really enjoyed this book and as it's the second book by Jeff Gunhus that I thought was really good, I'm looking forward to reading more by him in the future. I'd definitely recommended this one!

Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel by Eoin Colfer
Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel #1
October 2nd 2007 by Disney-Hyperion

In 2001, audiences first met and fell in love with a twelve-year-old criminal mastermind named Artemis Fowl. Since then, the series has sold over seven million copies in the United States alone. Now, this phenomenally successful series is being translated into a graphic novel format. Eoin Colfer has teamed up with established comic writer Andrew Donkin to adapt the text. For the first time, rabid fans will be able to see what Foaly's tin hat looks like; discover just how "Beet" Root got his name; and of course, follow their favorite criminal mastermind as he plots and connives in action-packed, full-color panels.

I never actually get the chance to read Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel in english. I did read it in Dutch once before started reading in English. Artemis Fowl is my favorite book ever so I'd love to re-read it in English sometime. I did read the graphic novels of the second and third book in English, though. They were both really awesome!

Book Tour ~ Review: The Baller by Vi Keeland + Giveaway (INT)

Title: The Baller
Author: Vi Keeland

Publication: January 18th 2016
Genre: Adult ~ Romance
Purchase: Amazon US | Amazon UK | iBooks | B&N | Kobo
Rating: 3/5

This review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

From New York Times and USA Today Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a sexy new novel.

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.
It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.
The famed quarterback decided to bare all.
And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.
No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question. On camera.
The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.
When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.
But I don’t date players.
And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.
I’d date an athlete.
It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.
You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player.
Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.
But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.
Turned out, I was that girl.
Simple right?
Let’s face it. It never is.
There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after…
And this one is ours.

The Baller wasn't a bad read. I really did like it but I kind of had expected a little more, to be honest. I loved reading about Delilah and Brody... yet there were a few things that bothered me.

This story has a lot of things that I loved. The writing was great, I really enjoyed reading about the main characters, it was freaking hilarious at times and the romance was scorching hot. I also read the book in almost one sitting so it was a quick read for me, which is always a bonus.

The things I didn't like were how the story started a little too fast for my liking and I also didn't feel a deep connecting between Brodi and Delilah, although I did like them together. I also didn't care for Willow's (Brody's ex-girlfriend) point of view that sometimes appeared.

I do think that the good things in this book definitely outweigh the bad. My favorite things about this book was the humor. Brody was pretty damn hilarious when it came to persuing Delilah. But I did wanted a deeper connection between them. I just felt like something was missing somewhere.

Overall, I liked The Baller by Vi Keeland but like I said, I felt that something was missing. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly but that's why I didn't rate the story higher. It's still a great read and I'm glad to have gotten the chance to read it but I can't deny I wanted a little more.

       About the Author:

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn't change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work. She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
